Today on our 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the TrailerMate Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number TM781114. To begin our install, we'll first go ahead and open up the rear hatch, then we're going to remove both tail light assemblies. To remove the tail light assemblies, we'll first need to remove the two screw fasteners and then gently pop the tail light out of it's position, being careful not to break the alignment tab underneath. Then we'll go ahead and remove the tail light assembly from the manufacturers wiring by removing the wiring from the socket. To do this, we'll first need to unlock the connector at the red locking tab. Overtime, these locking tabs can really stiffen up and be difficult to move, so I'll go ahead and use a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry it to the unlocked position, then we'll press on the connector lock and remove it from the socket assembly. Now I can go ahead and set the tail light aside. Next, we'll repeat the same process on the passenger side. With both tail light assemblies out of the way, we can now go ahead and start routing our new TrailerMate wiring harness. more

All right today on this 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee were going to install part number BX8869 from Blue Ox. Our first step is go ahead and run our wire from the front to rear on our vehicle. When we do that we want to make sure we stay away from anything thats moving like the suspension component or anything hot like the exhaust. Okay, to route our wire what we do is start at the front immediately behind the radiator going straight up and go over the frame and around and behind the steering box, the non-moving part. Then we go up and over and around the bottom part of the air box and then back down around the frame below the steering shaft. Weve got plenty of room there and then we took a fish wire and we actually ran to one of the holes existing in a frame and we were able to run it back towards the rear axle and pull out our wire there. more

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2004 Jeep Liberty- Video

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2004 Jeep Liberty

Today we will be installing Roadmaster universal wiring kit, RM-154, on a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Our first step is going to be to mount this small bracket here in the front of the vehicle that we are going to tie the front end off so it will be accessible when attaching to your motor home. This is a self-threading bolt. It may be slightly difficult to get started but once you do it gets much easier. Our bracket is mounted. I am going to zip-tie my front connector off to it and begin the routing of my wire to the rear of the vehicle. You can see our wire coming up over the axle now. We are going to use these two rear mounting holes. We are going to zip-tie off the rear leader going to our taillights. Now that we have our wire feed run to the rear of the vehicle, what we need to do is remove the taillight lenses in order to splice our wire in. The first step is going to be open the rear hatch of the vehicle and remove the ports bit screws so that we can remove the lenses. Alright, now that we have our screws removed, we can pop our taillight lens out. I even like to go ahead and disconnect my hold-down and then go ahead and disconnect the harness so I can set the taillight lens out of the way. Our harness plug has a locking tab that will have to be pushed up. Then press on your tab to remove your harness. I am going to repeat the same steps on the driver side. 1:46 more

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty- Video

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty

Today on this 2006 Jeep Liberty we are going to install part number RM-154 from Roadmaster. What this does is allows us to wire up the vehicle so that it can be towed behind an RV. The first step is to route the wire from the front to rear and the wire harness comes with two truck ends on the wiring harness itself. We are just going to cut off one end of it, leave about a foot or so on there in case we need to use it again or in case the original one gets worn out. This 4-pole is going to stay at the front and basically you can think about it as like wiring up a utility trailer. This is going to stay in the front and the car is going to become a trailer at this point. We are going to run our wire between the plastic up in here towards the center as close as possible because in the future a face plate will get installed in that general area. Thread that on through until we come out the other side and we are going to route it all the way back and stay away from the suspension components and we are actually going to run it through the frame. 01:00 more
