Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Jeep Wagoneer- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack's Destination two-bike platform rack and how it fits our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the Destination 2 is a really compact, lightweight, and portable bike rack. For an entry level rack, it's actually one of my favorites because it just gets the job done, plus it can fit a variety of bikes whether you're really small kids bikes or your larger step-through bikes even. Now it does have its downsides too like it can't tilt away, plus it has a maximum weight capacity of 35 pounds per bike. But for the Wagoneer, not being able to tilt away is actually not a bad thing because most bikes that do tilt away, don't tilt the away enough for the Wagoneer's large hatch. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today I have the Hollywood Racks Destination E two-bike platform rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Jeep Wagoner. So the Destination E is actually pretty impressive. Guess it does have its downsides where it does take a little bit more time to use, and more straps, and levers, and things like that, but honestly, for the Jeep Wagoner, this is one of the only bike racks that can tilt away far enough where you can still open up the hatch. Plus with how high up this is off of the ground, most bike racks make it a little tricky to lift your heavy electric bikes up, but this one has an included ramp. So we'll talk about features like that, and I'll show you how it does make a good fit for the Wagoneer. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Jeep Wagoneer- Video

It's really popular because you have all the premium features. Yes, it is at a premium price but it also works really well for a lot of bikes. Now when talking about how this fits the Wagoneer though for a great all around bike rack it does have some disadvantages. Like it doesn't tilt down far enough for the Wagoneer's hatch open, but honestly most bike racks don't. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. and today we have the Yakima OnRamp two-bike electric bike rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Mazda CX-9. So the OnRamp is really designed for those heavy electric bikes because you have a 66 pound weight capacity per bike, and you have a ramp included and attached to the rack. Now there are some other features to this bike rack, and we are gonna focus on the CX-9 here today. We'll talk about things like how close it gets to the vehicle, and with the ground clearance, do you really need a ramp But another of its features that it has is the tilt away feature, so we'll start there. So the Swagman Current is designed for the heavier weight capacity but also has the simple traditional style of carrying around your bikes with that simple hook in the center. It has its pros and cons to this style like staying affordable but also staying versatile. And it also has some downsides like this does not fold up on the Mazda CX9 because it comes really close to the vehicle. Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have a Swagman XTC2 TILT away bike rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Mazda CX9. So the XTC 2 tilt takes the simplicity of the XC and the affordability of an entry level bike rack but it also adds a tilt away feature for if you want better access to your hatch even when your bikes are on. So it is popular because of its low price point while still getting the job done but it also has its downsides as well. With the Mazda CX9, it gets really close to the vehicle meaning your bikes will be close to the vehicle. So let's talk about features like that. Now, the main thing with the XTC2 TILT is that it tilts away. more

So the Destination E is really designed for those heavy electric bikes, but it can also work with other bikes in different shapes and sizes. Now we are going to focus on our Mazda CX-9 here just to see how well it fits with this car. I think, it's like a medium to okay fit because of our ground clearance. The ramp this comes with does come in handy with those 70-pound bikes, and we do have clearance for our hatch, but also has a little bit of extra effort to get to those features. So that feature that I mentioned was the tilt-away feature. more

CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Curt Premium 4 Hanging Rack and we'll take a look at how this fits our 2022 Mazda CX-9. So the Curt Premium is a hanging rack that I would recommend for people that are taking around family bikes, as well as maybe your mountain bikes because of the unique way this is designed. Now, when possible, I do recommend taking a look at the platform racks we have available for your CX-9, but I also understand that the hanging rack is preferred by someone because it takes up less space, as well as is lighter than most racks. So, here we have the four bike version. This is also available as a five bike version, which is awesome if you want to get more bikes around. With this in place, you have one and two of your normal size cradles, but notice how the arms pivot into where they're closer together. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTR four-bike rack and seeing how it fits in the back of this 2022 Ford Maverick. Now this is gonna be a platform style bike rack capable of carrying up to four bikes. It's gonna be a pretty nice platform style rack too. It's gonna hold the bike by the front tire and the back wheel with a strap. The front tire's held in by a wheel hook so it makes zero frame contact, making this a good option for carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTR platform style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2015 Toyota 4Runner. Now this is going to be a four-bike rack capable of carrying up to four bikes. It's gonna be a pretty easy system to use because it makes no frame contact, holds the bike by the front tire and the back wheel. The back wheel is held in by a wheel strap and that front tire uses a wheel hook. The hook is the thing that primarily keeps this upright and in place and the back strap provides stability. more

Now this is gonna be a hitch mounted bike rack, and your Corolla only has one hitch option, a Class one hitch. So, it's something to be very mindful of when you're picking out a bike rack. You might consider a trunk mounted rack. Typically, I'm not a big fan of those but with the very limited hitch option that's gonna even more limit your options for hitch mounted bike racks because the class one hitches just don't have great weight ratings. more

I really like the double wheel mount style. Traditionally, bike racks would either grab the top tube with a hook that comes down or you'd see just one hook that comes in and grabs right before the fork. This way, this allows us to get bigger bikes on there but what I really run into an issue is having my handlebars interfere with the seat of the second bike that I put on. more

Hey everyone, Charles here at Etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Saris MHS modular bike rack for two bikes on the 2021 Jeep Gladiator. The front and rear wheel mounts make it great for carrying your carbon frame style bike since it's not gonna have any frame contact. But one of my favorite features is that it does tilt away, like so, giving you access to your bed of your truck. You can see we have plenty of clearance to grab our backpacks and our waters whatever you need for the trail. And I just really like that because carrying heavy bikes on the back of your vehicle, you may not always wanna unload it and load it whenever you have to get back into your bed. Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Nissan Rogue- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro Hanging-Style Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Nissan Rogue. Now, with this being a hanging-style bike rack, that does mean the bike is going to hang by the frame. You've got these dual arms with four sets of cradles, so capable of carrying up to four bikes, and having three points of contact on that frame. Two straps over the top that hold it down into these deep cradles, and the third one on the seat post here, acting as an anti-sway cradle, which does (indistinct) our side to side movement, helping with bike to bike contact and preventing the bike from running into our vehicle. A lot of different bike racks that we've tested today had clearance issues with the Nissan Rogue. more

Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2 platform style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Nissan Rogue. Now this is going to be kind of a mid-range bike rack, but able to work with a wide range of bikes. With this being a platform style rack the bike is going to sit on top of the rack in these wheel cradles, and this particular one holds the bike in place primarily by our front wheel hook right here. That's gonna be the thing that holds the bike upright and keeps it still for the most part, and it does a pretty good job at getting a strong hold on the bike. more

We've got a clamp up top holding onto our frame wherever it fits best. It can rotate around 360 degrees and move around the mast here to adapt to different frame styles. Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Honda Odyssey- Video
Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Swagman Skaha 2 bike rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Honda Odyssey. So the Swagman Skaha is a good rack if you have those heavy electric bikes, and with the Odyssey, I recommend getting the separate ramp and bridge attachment. There is a good amount of ground clearance with this vehicle, so it's hard to lift those bikes high up and into the hitch receiver or hitch-mounted bike rack, but the ramp and bridge actually works really well with this rack, and I would recommend checking that out if you have a heavy electric bike, but this also has some other features, like it tilts away and you have a front wheel mount, which makes it easier to load those bikes up. So the first feature we'll take a look at is that tilt away feature. There is this bright green lever here in the back. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Ram 1500- Video
Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty SwingAway bike rack and seeing how it fits on our 2020 RAM 1500. The SwingAway is going to be a great option for any sort of truck because with the tailgate this allows you to swing the whole rack away with bikes loaded and have full access to your truck bed so you can open up the tailgate without any clearance issues, sit down before or after your ride or just have access to the bed if you need it, and you can leave your bike rack in the hitch and not have to think about it. The AfterParty is gonna be a great option for a wide variety of bikes as well. It makes no frame contact using this dual wheel mount design here, so it's good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. And with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike it can handle e-bikes too which is impressive considering the SwingAway feature here. more

That way if you're forgetful like me you don't have to have to remember to keep it in your car because you know it's on the rack, ready to go. Now even though it does have that great weight capacity and the ramp, there are some downsides too like how tricky it is to get the bikes loaded up. It does take a little of extra movements to get the bikes on there as well as to tilt it away. So we'll talk about that focusing on the QX50. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Infiniti QX50- Video
Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the RockyMounts MonoRail two bike platform rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2020 Infiniti QX50. The MonoRail is really popular because of its versatility, and also how you can get the premium features and specs at not as premium as a price as some other racks, which is great, because it keeps things affordable but still practical. There are some downsides to it too, like how you can't get a ramp added to this rack. But in the case of the Infiniti QX50, since the ground clearance is so low, you probably don't need a ramp. Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Kuat NV 2.0 2 Bike Platform Rack. We'll take a look at how it fits our 2020 Infiniti QX50. So the Kuat NV is a great pairing with the QX50 because it's a premium car and this is a premium bike rack, but you also have premium features with this. So if you have heavy electric bikes of up to 60 pounds, or even if you have children's bikes or fat tire bikes, this can fit them. You do get the included compatible straps as well as the adapters for those bikes, but you only get one of each. Now if this is gonna be a good fit for you, you can also get a ramp added onto this, sold separately. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Hollywood Racks Destination four bike platform rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2020 Infiniti QX50. So the Destination platform rack is a great way to carry around four bikes while still having an affordable platform rack and of the platform racks that can carry multiple bikes this is gonna be one of the most light as well as compact racks. The downside though is it's not or it doesn't have the premium features you would expect from the pricier racks like tilting away and great weight capacity. So we'll talk about how it fits our QX50. The main thing is if you do want to access your hatch real quick you are going to have to take your bikes off. So how is the bike mounted to this rack Well this has three touch points. more

The Destination 2 is one of my preferred bike racks if you're looking for something that's compact, portable and lightweight and also affordable. Now the downside to this bike rack is you do lose out on some premium features. Like if you need to access your hatch you have to take the bikes off. You can't just tilt away with the bikes on. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima FullTilt hanging style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of this 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe. This is gonna be a pretty solid bike rack capable of carrying up to five bikes. You'll be able to carry more than you would with most racks as they typically top out around the four bike range. So if you have a family with three kids then this is gonna be a good option because most other racks out there can't accommodate five bikes. And I will say with this there are limitations because one, it's a hanging style bike rack. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris SuperClamp EX two bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe. This is gonna be a platform style bike rack. This one holds the bike in these two wheel cradles and uses a dual wheel mount design. In this case, it means we have two wheel hooks ratcheting down over the top of each tire, really anywhere along the tire that it makes good contact and having secondary points of contact on each of those cradles in the form of wheel straps. And the result is actually a really firm hold although there is a little bit of movement here at the pivot point of the bike rack. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Ford Maverick- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman XTC2 TILT and seeing how it fits in the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now, the XTC is a platform-style bike rack, holding the bike in these wheel hoops on either side and by our frame, utilizing a frame clamp or a hook in the center. Now, because of the frame hook, in any sort of frame contact, we do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes. And because it uses a hook rather than a cradle with a strap, it's not gonna be the best fit for alternative frame bikes, because those downward sloping frames, you're not gonna be able to get a good grab on it with these hooks. Something like a bike adapter bar is going to be needed to ensure a proper fit, and you can find those here at etrailer, just making sure that if you've got one of those bikes, you have that in mind, and maybe look into a different style of bike rack. more

This is gonna be a pretty entry level platform style bike rack. Certainly not all kinds of bells and whistles to it and there's some things about it that are a little bit clunky. But to get you started in the world of bike racks especially platform style bike racks, it's gonna be one of your better options and one of my personal favorites at this price point. So you can carry up to four bikes with this and each bike can weigh up to 35 pounds. more

CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe. This is gonna be a hanging-style bike rack, and what that means is the bike hangs by the frame. Two attachment points up top with straps holding it down on the cradles and a third one on the seat post, keeping our sway down to a minimum. It doesn't entirely eliminate it, especially these rubber straps, they've got a bit of stretch to them, so it doesn't completely fix the problem, but it will help with bike to bike contact as you're going down the road. Hanging-style bike racks inherently are gonna have a few more limitations to them, and this one is no different. more

This is going to be able to hold up to two bikes up to 60 pounds each, so good for some of your e-bikes and it holds bikes by our front tire, primarily using this wheel hook. The wheel hook is a big deal because it doesn't make any frame contact on the bike so it's going to be a great option for carbon frame bikes as well as alternative frame bikes. more
