Today on our 2012 Honda CRV we'll be testing the Kuat Beta Folding 2 Bike Aluminum Rack for inch and a quarter hitches, part number B202-114. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch, lineup the pinhole, and install our pen and lock. Now we'll move to the rear of the shank and tighten the hand knob to secure our bike rack to our vehicle and engage our anti-rattle device. Now we'll go over some key measurements. We have about 12 inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the rear of our CRV is about two inches. more

Today on our 2013 Honda CRV well be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider two bike carrier for recumbents, part number HR1000R-1G. To begin our test fit we will slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes and tighten with a wrench. Now that the carrier is secured to the vehicle well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle will fit together. There is about 12 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle is about five and a half inches. We have added a total of 30 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Weve got about 13 inches of clearance from the bottom of the carrier to the ground. Weve got about 4 inches of space between the closest part of the bike rack and the closest part of the vehicle. Overall weve added about 14-1/2 inches of length to the rear of our vehicle. more

Well release the automatic hitch pin and let it snap into place in our hitch pin hole then well use the hand knob to tighten down the anti-rattle device securing our bike rack to the vehicle. Alright, today on this 2012 Honda CRV were going to do a test fit of part #: TH 958 from Thule. One thing to know about this bicycle rack that it is designed for 2 inch receiver hitches only. Now well start off our test fit by installing our bike rack into the hitch, then well go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt. Then well go ahead and get a couple of clearance measurements. From the security loop on the bike rack to the bumper is going to be 4 inches, from the bumper to the end of the arms is going to be 24 inches and ground clearance is going to be 12 inches. Now well go ahead and tilt be bike rack back and check for access to the back of the vehicle. more

Thule Apex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Honda CR-V

Today on our 2012 Honda CRV were going to be test fitting the Thule Apex 4 bike carrier for 1 inch and 2 inch hitches part #: TH9025. With our vehicle equipped with a 2 inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled we can go ahead and slide the bike rack shank directly into the receiver tube of the hitch lining up the hitch pinhole with the integrated locking hitch pin. Then well go ahead and take the hand knob and secure the bike rack to the hitch. As you can see with the hand knob tightened down it really takes out any movement between the bike rack and the vehicle. From the nearest point of the bumper to the nearest point of the hand knob on the bike rack shank is 3 inches. With our carrying arms down in the stored position it adds an additional 14 inches to the overall vehicles length. more

Okay a few quick notes about this bicycle rack is that it will work with 1-1/4 receiver hitch on both class one and class two, and it will also work on the class 3 receiver hitch as shown here with a spacer. Okay we will start off by installing the bicycle rack into the hitch, we will install the anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down, and we will put the safety clip on the other side. Now wrench actually works pretty good to tighten down the bolt. Alright with the bike rack installed and in its folded up position we will give you some measurements that will give you an idea of clearance between the bicycle rack and a SUV, and the bicycle rack and the ground. more

One quick note about this bicycle rack is that it will work on 1-1/4 inch receiver hitches both class 1 and class 2 and also work with class 3 receiver hitch as shown here with the included spacer. When we install our bicycle rack, we're going to install in an unfold position so when it's folded up, this whole nut loaded into the hitch with the spare tire in place. So we'll go ahead and install the bicycle rack into the hitch. Well install the anti-rattle bolt and then tighten it down. more
