There's gonna be five main components to flat towing your vehicle behind your RV. The first is gonna be your base plate, which is going to attach to our vehicle. Next, is going to be our tow bar, which is going to attach the RV to the vehicle so it can pull it safely down the road. Next, is gonna be your braking system, which is going to allow the vehicle to break on its own as the RV is stopping itself. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Base Plate on a 2019 Ford Fiesta. Now this is what your base plate is gonna look like when it's installed and they've done a pretty good job of keeping this in the lower grill so you're not having to drill out the fascia. You're gonna have to trim some of this, but it does fit nicely here. So we have our spot for our removable arms, our safety chain moves come out just enough without being too intrusive. And we also have a mounting point for our six pole diode wiring. Now the breakaway switch for our braking system, I did have to self tap, but I'm tapping that into the base plate. more

Now these parts here will let you use your motor home mounted Blue Ox Tow bar to tow your vehicle that has an off-road bumper with the welded on or bolted on D-rings and is rated for flat towing. This will work with the Blue Ox Aladdin, the Alpha, the Ascent, the Avail, and the Aventa LX tow bars. Now if the vehicle you wanna flat tow has an off-road bumper on it, there's usually no place to install base plates for your tow board to connect to. more

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Suburban- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster Baseplate for towed vehicles on a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban. Now this is what our baseplate looks like when it's installed and the great part about this one is it replaces your factory tow hook so there's really no trimming or just minor trimming necessary to get this in place. So it retains a nice OEM look and since you are taking off your tow hook you still have your safety chain loop here it can act as a tow hook when normally driving your vehicle. Now overall I really like the clean look of the baseplate and it's a relatively easy installation. Now one thing you will have to keep in mind is mounting up the rest of your flat tow components including this one has an air brake system for its RV, your diode wiring as well as your braking system. Mounting those up can get a little bit tricky but I used our license plate bracket here and got a little bit creative for a nice clean look. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster base plate for a flat towed vehicle on a 2022 Chevrolet Spark. Your base plate is going to be the attachment point for your main components on a flat towed vehicle. And the Roadmaster ones do a really good job of securely mounting up to the frame of the vehicle, creating a good, solid mounting point for your tow bar and your safety chain loops. There's even a mounting bracket for your supplemental braking system as well as one for your diode wiring, so it really has all the features set up for you to be able to hook it up. Now, the great part about this one is the fact that it has these removable arms. more

Now there's normally five main components that are required for flat towing your vehicle, and we'll start on the vehicle side. The first one's gonna be the base plate and that's gonna be the attachment point to the solid portion of the frame or bumper beam of the vehicle. And that's where you have your removable arms here that attach to your towbar. So that's gonna be our second component, the towbar, which is gonna be the connection point between the base plate of the vehicle and the hitch on the RV. Now going along with that, our base plate does have these loops here for our safety chains. more

Hi there, GMC Owners today on your 2019 GMC Sierra 2,500 HD. We're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Blue Ox's base plate. You can hook any Blue Ox tow bar up to the arms here that go on the end of your base plate, and we'll go ahead and show you that real quick here. So we'll pull the pin out, slide that apart, and we can pull the end back there. This arm is removable so when you're not flat towing you can simply just pull the pin and twist it to slide that out of there. And when you're ready to flat toe it'll just insert and twist until it locks into place. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Ford F-150- Video
Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox base plate for a 2016 Ford F-150. Now this is what your base plate is gonna look like when it's installed, and overall this is a really clean system because it just replaces where those factory tow hooks were, and when not towing, you can simply pull your arms out and this is gonna give it an even cleaner look. Now this is what it's gonna look like when you're not flat towing, and even though you lose your factory tow hooks, it really doesn't matter that much because you can still use your safety chain loops here, from the base plate, as your tow hooks. And, overall, it sits pretty nice in just that pocket where those tow hooks we're so, as far as the fascia, the only trimming that you may or may not have to do is mounting up the rest of your components. It does come with a bracket to mount up your 6-pole. You may or may not have air brakes, as you can see, we have our air fitting here. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install etrailer's base plate. Here you can see our attachment points where we'll hook up our tow bar on each side and you can see that the base plate is gonna be completely hidden behind our fascia and it's just gonna poke out the holes where your tow hooks used to be if you had tow hooks. If not, they would poke out of the area that's just covered up where a to hook potentially could go. There is a bracket that's a universal bracket that you can choose wherever you want to install it on your vehicle for mounting up your electrical connector. And we decided to just put it right here in the middle for mounting up our electrical components, as well as our breakaway switch and braking system attachment. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Today, on your 2020 Jeep Wrangler, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's crossbar-style base plate. There's five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle. The tow bar being one of those. In addition to your tow bar, you're also gonna need your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar. You'll also need your dialed wiring, which takes the lighting from your motorhome and sends it to the lights at the back of your vehicle. more

Now, this is what it's gonna look like when you do not have anything installed and you're not flat towing your vehicle. And you can see pretty well that this slightly protrudes, not too bad. Your safety chain loops are right outside this plastic grill, and it's got this nice bracket here for your six-pole. more

And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. Here, you can see, it does stick out just a little bit past the front bumper. This is not, I don't believe, what the factory one looks like. This could be certain options that you could have got, but it looks like the factory one may stick out just a hair more than this one. more

Now, there's five main components when flat towing a vehicle. And on the vehicle's side, we'll start with the base plate. And the base plate is just gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle, creating a solid mount to allow you to have your arms that are gonna attach to your tow bar. And that's gonna be your second component, which is gonna be the connection point between the vehicle's base plate and the hitch on the RV. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at installing the Blue Ox Base Plate on a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. Now, this is what it's gonna look like when it's installed. And to be completely honest, it's really clean looking. In fact, it takes away the factory red tow hooks here on this trailhawk, which is unfortunate but it's nice that it uses the same spot because you're not gonna have to cut any of the fascia in order for the base plate to go on. Now, some of your other components may require that but overall using those factory locations is really nice. more

Hi, there Jeep Owners. Today in your 2011 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Blue Ox base plate. And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. We can see here that all the components fit through the grill opening right here, and everything's tucked back pretty nice. Thing that kind of sticks out is our breakaway switch here, but it really doesn't stick out too bad. I don't think it's something that would interfere too much with pulling in your garage or anything like that. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Fan of your 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. We're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Blue Ox base plate. It does install below the bumper, so you will be able to see the cross beam and the, pretty much the entirety of the base plate, But the black powder coat finish on it and the robust look of it, just blends in pretty well with our Jeep. And it kind of just makes it look like an off-roading front end if you're just not familiar with a flat-tow setup. Our base blate is going to allow us to hook up our Jeep behind our motorhome and flat tow it with us. more
