etrailer Trailer Brake Controller Universal Kit Installation - 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Hi, John with Etrailer. If you're looking to add a brake controller to your FJ Cruiser, then you're gonna need this kit. This is the ETBC7 from Etrailer, and we installed it on our 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Now even if your FJ came with a factory tow package, more than likely, it's just gonna be the four-way flat, which is just basic lighting functions. If you wanna add a seven-way connector to the back and you wanna either have braking function or auxiliary functions, then this is the kit for you. This is gonna include a seven-way plug. more

Today we are going to do an install of a brake controller on a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. We are going to be using part number ETBC7 and we are also going to install the Prodigy brake controller part number 90185. The first step we are going to do is mount up our bracket. What that is going to involve is we are going to take this panel loose and we are going to take this 4-pole mount off because our parts are going to replace this area. :22 more

All right next what we need to do is run this wire up to the front side of the vehicle up by our fire wall. Basically we just have to keep this as close to the frame as possible away from the exhaust and also as far to the left as possible to keep it away from the steering arm too. We have got our wire pulled through on the top here but we need to get to the left side as far as possible so push it back down and pull it on this side so it will come back close to our battery and our access point through the fire wall right here. And you will notice we ran the wire from here all the way up to the positive terminal here. :35 more
