Hi there Ram owners. Today in your 2006 Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller.Our customer has recently been hauling his Winnebago here, and you can see this big old trailer, and this is what he's been using to haul it here, this old impulse brake controller. He's been having a lot of issues with the brakes applying too hard, they're just abrupt, this is an old time-delay model. He just doesn't like the way it feels. He gets a lot of issues with the way it porpoises from applying a little bit too hard, especially just going around parking lots and things like that, it's even more noticeable.So we're going to get this old nasty wiring he's got and get this guy out of here, and get him something a little more modern that's going to smooth out his towing experience.Tekonsha's Prodigy P3 Brake Controller is a premium brake controller that has pretty much every option that you would want. Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup- Video
Today on our 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller, part number 5535. To ease our installation, we'll be using the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers, part number 3020-P. As you see, it's a really nice, compact unit. It doesn't take up a lot of space, so this is perfect for applications where you may not have a lot of room to mount a brake controller inside your vehicle, such as some of your smaller SUVs or crossovers. This controller is ideal for controlling trailers with brakes on up to four axles. Our controller is very easy to use. This lever here is our manual override. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup- Video
Today on our 2008 Dodge Ram 3500, we'll be taking a look at and installing the Tekonsha Primus IQ Proportional Trailer Brake Controller, part number TK90160, with assistance from the Tekonsha Plug-in Wire Adapter, part number 3020-P. Now here on our brake controller, you can see that it's going to be fully adjustable, with 3 different settings here on the side, so you can adjust the pitch or the controller on the inside of the vehicle. Not only that, we have our trailer connected now. You can note that by seeing the C on the side here. Press in the manual and you can see the gain for the manual switch on our trailer. Since this is a proportional braking system, this is going to be how much power you're putting out to those trailer brakes, as well as selecting from the different boost modes here on the top, depending on what trailer you have connected will depend on what boost you're going to select. The wheel here on the side is going to be the power wheel to adjust the power that's going back to your brakes. more

Also, to help us with our install, we'll be using part number: 3020-P from Tekonsha. This is a Dodge Break Control Wire Harness. This is what the Tekonsha Primus IQ Break Controller looks like, when installed in our Dodge truck. This is your manual override control right here. This only applies the breaks on the trailer, if you ever need it. Take a look at our display here, it also shows an NC, which means no connection to a trailer, which is correct for us right now. more

On this 2006 Dodge RAM pickup, we are going to review and install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90885. We are also going to use part number 3020-P from Tekonsha, this is a Dodge Brake Control Harness. All right, this is what the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller looks like when it is installed in our Dodge truck. As you can see here, we have it mounted on a conventional location. This is our brake controller, and this is the pocket that it sits in. You also have an option of a metal type of bracket, you can install it with that as well. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2003 Dodge Ram- Video
Today on our 2003 Dodge Ram we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller, part number 90195. Now to make our install a little easier we're also going to use the Tekonsha Plug & Play wiring adapter, part number 3020-P. This will connect directly to the manufacturer's brake controller port. Now to begin our install we'll locate the manufacturer's brake controller port. It's going to be behind the emergency brake pedal coming off the manufacturer's wiring harness right next to the module. This is a blue connector with four wires running into it. Once we locate the connector we can go ahead and take the direct-fit wiring harness, taking the white connector end and plugging it into the manufacturer's brake controller port. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 39510- Video
Today in our 2006 Dodge Ram pickup, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller for 1 to 4 axles, part number 39510. We'll use this in conjunction with our Tekonsha Plug and Play direct fit wiring harness, part number 3020-P. Now to begin our install, we'll first go ahead and locate the manufacturer's brake controller port. The brake controller port is located behind the parking brake pedal, above the manufacturer's main wiring harness. This is a blue connector and is secured here to the ECM. Now we've located it. We'll go ahead and pop it free so that we can plug the direct fit wiring harness directly into it. To plug the harness into it, we'll take the white connector of our direct fit harness and plug in to the blue port. Once we have it plugged in, we'll go ahead and leave our wires hang, or if you can get your connector back in place, you can go ahead and do that now. Next, we'll move over to mounting the brake controller. more

Today on this 2008 Dodge Ram pickup 1500 series quad cab, we're going to install part number 90885 from Tekonsha. This is a Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller. Now to help us with our install, we're also going to be using part number 3020-P from Tekonsha. This is a plug-in wiring adapter for electronic brake controllers with Dodge tow packages. We're underneath the dash on the driver's side of the truck, and we'll go ahead and look for a tow package port. Now on this truck, this is the blue connector right here. That's a tow package port. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2013 Dodge Ram- Video
Today with this 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, we're going to be installing the Tekonsha P3 brake controller, part number 90195 and the custom fit brake control harness for this vehicle, part number 3023-P. The first thing we need to do is set our mounting bracket for our controller. Pick a suitable location that won't be in the way of the driver's knees, but will allow easy access to the manual override switch on the bottom of the controller. Once you've found a location for the bracket, make sure that there are no electrical components behind it before you secure it with the included screws.With our controller in place, we'll move on to the brake control harness. The next thing we need to do is find the electrical connections up underneath the dash of our Ram pickup. The first connection we need to make is the large square connector on the harness. more

Brake Controller Installation - 2005 Dodge Ram 3500- Video
Alright today on this 2003 doge ram 3500 pick up, were going to install parts for brake controller part number 90885. Were also going to install the adaptor core part number 3020-p. First off well go ahead and show you where the port is at on the vehicle, the tilt port is right behind this wire harness, its the blue socket right here. Were going to take our adapt cord and draw out the back, just plug right into it.Now the wire harness around it makes it for a tight fit, so you may have to pop the port loose to get a better angle at it to install it. Make sure it snaps into place and we got a cord. Now we go and find a spot to mount our bracket for our brake controller. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2002 Dodge Ram 3500- Video
Today on this 2002 Dodge Full Size Pickup 3500 were going to install a brake controller part number 90885, the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, and the adapter cord part number 320-P. First well start off with the adapter cord, alright this is our port right here, now it is kind of covered up by the wire, sometimes you can sneak it through or sometimes you could just pop it off and get a little easier access with it. It plugs together, were going to go ahead and snap this back into place, now well take our cord, and well just leave it alone for now. Lets go ahead and mount up the brake controller. Now well go ahead and mount our brake controller bracket in this are right here where it is still easy to reach, but not in the way either. Well just line up with this line right here; well use the hardware to attach it to the dashboard. more

Today on this 2008 Dodge 3500 we are going to install the Tekonsha P3 brake controller, part number 90195. Our first step is going to be locating where you want to mount your brake controller. For this application, we are going to mount it right here. One of my mounting fasteners is also going to be one of the current trim fasteners. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2009 Dodge Ram 1500- Video
Today we are going to install the Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller on a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. We will also be using the Tekonsha wire harness, part number 3020-P. The Primus IQ is a proportional style brake controller. It sense how hard or how softly you are braking in the vehicle and sends the proper voltage to the trailer brakes so the whole braking action is smooth and even. It features a digital LED display and also has three levels of boosts to increase or decrease the trailer braking power as needed. It can be mounted between 0 degrees and 70 degrees nose up. And it is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. In the packaging for the brake controller, you will find the brake controller itself, as well as a fixed black plastic mounting bracket and a black metal bracket that we will not be using. You will also find a packet of screws for attaching the bracket to the vehicle and the controller to the bracket, as well as a generic harness with loose wire ends. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup- Video
Today on this 2009 Dodge Ram we will be installing the Tekonsha P3 brake controller along with the wiring harness for it, part number 90195-3020P. The first thing I want to point out is the factory installed 7-pole at the rear of the vehicle and this will be the indicator of whether or not your vehicle is going to have the factory installed brake control port under the dash. The factory 7-pole we are looking for is built into the bumper. It will have the Chrysler logo built on the front. If you do not have this plug you will likely not have the port under the dash that we are going to be plugging into. Thus will have to hardwire your brake controller into the vehicle. 00:38 more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 1999 Dodge Pickup- Video
Today on this 1999 Dodge, we will be installing part number 90195-3020P. The P3 part. The first thing I want to note on this vehicle here at the rear is the 7-pole plug. This is actually a factory 7-pole plug which is going to allow us simply to plug our brake controller and adapter into place and go. To figure out if you have the factory 7-pole plug, you will note that this has got the welded bracket to the factory installed trailer hitch and if you actually look at the cover of the 7-pole, you will see the Chrysler logo and if you look closely you will see the actual Chrysler name written across the front. Those two indicators will help you know that you have got the correct factory plug. more
