Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2019 Ford F-150- Video
Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster direct-connect base plate kit, our 2019 Ford F150. Now the reason why you're going to want a base plate is because you want to flat tow your F150 because let's face it, when we go on a trip with our motorhome, it's a lot nicer to drive our truck around so we can go out to eat, run to the gas station, run a few errands, and not have to take our motor home with us.And our base plate is going to give us that solid connection point so we can hook our tow bar up to. But it's also going to alleviate a lot of that strain and stress that's put on the front suspension, because it's going to spread out that towing force across the front of our truck. And then since our base plate is going to be hooked directly to the frame, it's going to have a really solid point so we can safely tow our F150 down the road.The way they're basically sitting now is we don't have our removable arms in. So you can see, it just has a really clean appearance whenever we're not towing. But when we do want to tow, We'll grab the removable arm, we'll see it's got a pull pin on it. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Ford Focus we're going to be having a look at and showing you how to install the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit, part number DM9519324.Here's what our base plate looks like installed with our removal arms disconnected. Now what's great about this is it will maintain a clean look on the front of our Focus when we're not flat towing it behind our motor home. This base plate will serve as the attachment point to your motor home and will work with most tow bars on the market. The way you attach the removal arms, you can simply twist out your plug here, we'll take our arm insert it with this tab horizontally, twist it 90 degrees, and we'll use our clevis pin here to lock it into place. Now we can't twist it to remove it. Then we'll simply repeat the same process on the other side of the vehicle. more

Keep in mind, for a complete safe flat-tow setup, you're gonna need a base plate, tow bar, tow bar wiring, and a braking system.Here's what our base plate is gonna look like once we have it installed. Now, I do want to mention that the breakaway switch, as well as this electrical connector, are not included in our kit. But, they are gonna give us a spot to mount those things. Our base plate is gonna serve as the purpose to where we cannot our tow bar up, so we can safety flat tow our Focus. It's gonna take a lot of strain and stress off of the front suspension, and more evenly distribute that towing force, so it doesn't tear anything up.Whenever we're not towing, the arms are gonna sit far enough back to where it's really not gonna be a distracting thing on the front. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Ford Edge, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox baseplate kit with removable arms, part number BX2667.Here's what your baseplate looks like installed. As you can see, it's a nice concealed look. It goes right in the corner of our fascia here, up out of the way, and doesn't affect our grill opening really here at all; so it gives us a really clean look. We have a easy attachment point for the safety cables that'll go between our Edge and our motor home. Using our safety cable here, you can see we have plenty of clearance, and it won't contact any of our painted surfaces at all.We have these prongs in the front of our baseplate, which serve as an attachment point for any of our electrical needs for doing a flat tow setup, for our towed vehicle lighting systems. We also have a mounting location to put your breakaway switch for your supplemental braking system.Now, one thing that I really like about this baseplate compared to others on the market is that with removable arms having a small diameter, it really gives us a clean look. more

It is going to allow us to flat tow our Focus down the road behind our motor home safely and securely. I do want to mention that the breakaway switch and the wiring, they're not included. But they do have a bracket so that you can mount your breakaway switch as well as any wiring that you may have. The nice thing about the EZ4 base plate is if we pull on this ring right here, we can rotate the arm and pull it out and it's going to be a lot less noticeable when we're not flat towing our vehicle.Now also right on the outside, we're going to hae this loop here so we can attach our safety chains, which is going to make it a lot easier than having to try to worry about finding a spot and they're not going to interfere with connecting the tow bar itself. Our base plate's also going to have a bracket right here. more

This base plate gives us the vital connection point between our Ford Edge and our motor home, allowing us to safely and easily flat tow it. One of the great features about this base plate compared to others on the market, is that once we have arrived at our destination and we have unhooked our tow bar from our base plate, we have these removable arms where you can pull this pin, rotate it 90 degrees, and remove the arm and you have very little sticking out from the front, giving you a nice, clean look. Our other side's the same way.Next to where our removable arm goes into, we have our safety cable attachment point right here. Your safety cables will go in here, and then clip onto your motor home, providing you the sense of security and the required safety cable that you need when you're flat towing. Speaker 1: Today on this 2016 Ford F150, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate kit with removable arms, Part Number BX2671.Here's what our base plat looks like installed. As you can see, when it's not in use it doesn't take up much space underneath the front of our vehicle. The attachment tabs for our safety chains or safety cables don't stick out past our front bumper. So we don't have to worry about running our leg into it as we walk in front of our truck.When we're not being flat-towed behind our motor home, and we don't have our removable arms in place, we have these plugs to insert into our base plate to help keep any dirt and debris out, making it easy for us to install our arms when we need them. One great thing about this base plate, is not only is it compatible with most Blue Ox tow bars, but if you purchase an adapter, you can even use it with some RoadMaster tow bars.Now, when we want to flat-tow our F150 behind our motor home, we can take our removable arm, make sure our tab is horizontal, push it in, rotate, and then our spring-loaded pen will secure it into place. Now, when we have arrived at our destination and we've unhooked from our motor home, to remove our arms, we simply pull the pen, rotate 90 degrees and pull out.What I really like about this base plate, unlike some other options on the market, is that this is a very quick and easy install, which requires very little modification to the vehicle. more

Today in our 2013 Ford Taurus we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster EZ2 base plate kit, part number 524429-1. So here's what our base plate looks like fully installed. It's going to allow us to tow our vehicle behind our motor home and it's going to sit just right in the grooves of our grill here. We are going to need to cut out a little bit and when we're not towing our vehicle, can actually remove the brackets and it's not that noticeable. Our base plat is compatible with quick disconnects and all Roadmaster tow bars. Now they are an all steel construction with a nice black powder coat finish that's going to not only hide the bar nice behind your grill, but it's also going to protect it against rust and corrosion. This is a custom kit made for your vehicle. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Fiesta ST Hatchback, we'll be installing the Roadmaster EZ4 base plate kit with removable arms, part number RM-524441-4. Okay, here's what our base plate looks like once it's actually been installed all the way. As you can see, it's a nice, clean look. It's tucked up very nicely behind our fascia here. The one thing that really sticks out at all is our safety chain cable attachment points here. Our arms are completely removable; they almost sit flush with the grille on the Focus ST. more

Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit Installation - 2014 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2014 Ford F-150, we'll be installing the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number 4431-3. Here's what the base plate looks like installed. As you can see, it's a nice recessed look, goes right where the factory tow hooks are. If your truck doesn't have factory tow hooks, it still goes in the same location. You just have to do a little trimming of the bumper cover for the brackets to go into place. This base plate kit works on all models of F-150s and other EcoBoost models that don't have factory tow hooks. It sticks right underneath the licence plate here. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Ford Taurus- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford Taurus we'll be installing the Blue Ox Base Plate kit, with removable arms. Part number BX2643. All right here's what our baseplate looks like now that it's been installed and our bumper cover is back on. You can see it's a nice clean look, the removable arms tuck up nicely behind our bumper cover here. One part we really have sticking out is our safety chain attachment points here. Now when we're not behind our RV, and we're not being flat towed, the baseplate comes with these plugs that you can insert where the removable arms go, and that will keep any dirt and debris from entering there and making it difficult for the arms to go into place. When you are ready to hook up to your RV, you just simply grab the plugs, put them inside your cupholder or your glovebox, take your removable arms, insert the more horizontally legs up. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Focus we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number RM-524443-5. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. As you can see, it's got a nice black powder-coated finish. It's going to come with a bracket to mount either your 4 flat 00:00:26 in the center here, or you can use a 4 pole or a 5 pole, or you can switch it out to use a 7 pole without the adapter. It's got your safety chain hook connections, and it does have a bracket to mount your breakaway switch. The breakaway switch doesn't come with the kit; that's included with your braking system. When you're ready to take these off, you can just pull back the spring-loaded clip, turn it, and it slips out. more

On this 2012 Ford Focus, we're going to review, and install the Blue Ox baseplate kit, part number BX2633. All right, this is what the baseplate looks like once installed in the Ford Focus. Everything is pretty well tucked in behind the grill. The only thing that really sticks out past the grill is a safety cable, or safety chain loops right here, and also a couple of prongs for your electrical. This is one of the tabs right here, it can only go in one way. Put it in this part where it's horizontal. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Edge, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number BX2656. Here's what our base plate's going to look like when installed. As you can see, we're going to have our two removable arms, safety chain connection points, and our wiring connection point there. Now, this was added during our install just to ease everything as well as our breakaway switch and our air valve. I highly recommend doing this when you have this fascia off the vehicle. You can imagine trying to run these wires, our two wires for our breakaway switch and our air line up here after this was all put back together. Just wouldn't be ideal. more
