Before we get into that though, let's just take a couple of minutes, check this out, and make sure it's gonna work for you. If you plan on pulling a trailer around with your Sorento, you're gonna need a way to power up all the lights on that trailer, not only to keep you safe, but legal as well. Hey guys, how's it going Clay here at etrailer.com. Today I have a 2020 Kia Sorento, we'll be taking a look at, and I'll show you how to install the Tekonsha T1 trailer harness. So our four pole plug is going to give us all the lighting functions that we need to be safe on the roadway. That's going to be left, turn right, our running lights and brake lights. Say we're using a cargo carrier that covers our license plate and taillights. Some cargo carriers have the ability to move your license plate out with your lights, that way you can be seen by other vehicles. more

Today, on our 2020 Kia Sorento, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness, which gives us a seven-way plug, and a brake controller adapter.But these Sorentos, being really capable as SUVs, a lot of people use them to do a little bit of everything, which does include towing larger trailers with brakes. That's where this kit's really going to come in handy, and make wife a lot easier. It's going to give us that seven-way connector, that we need to plug our trailer into.And it's also going to give us that brake controller adapter upfront, in the driver's seat of our car. That way, when we do hook up our big trailer with brakes, we're able to plug into it, and use our brake controller to slow it down safely.The main advantage this setup has is that for the most part, it's going to come with everything you need. It's going to be really well-built, and you really don't need to think about how you're going to get it to work, as opposed to doing it other ways.A lot of times, you'll have to really piece together a lot of separate components, or kind of piece together some kits to make everything work properly. more

And that's where the trailer wiring is going to come into play. Not only can you hook your trailer up to it, that way the lights will sync up with the lights on the back of your Sorento and you'll be safe and legal, but you can also use it for hitch mounted accessories.For example some cargo carriers, steps, things in that nature actually have lights on them. And with a four pole flat connector, it's much easier to hook those up. You'd simply plug them in as opposed to having to splice into your Kia's factory wiring.One thing I really do like about this kit is the fact that it uses a module box and that module box is going to protect your Sorento's factory wiring. more
