Today on our 2006 Honda Odyssey, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2-bike carrier for recumbents, part number HR1000R-1G. To begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes, and tighten with a wrench. We'll then secure it with a clip on the other side. Now with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider for recumbents secured to our Honda Odyssey, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 18" of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle is about 4". more

Today on our 2012 Honda Fit, we'll be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa platform-style aluminum 2-bike carrier, part number S102. We'll begin our test fit sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes, inserting the pin through the pin holes, and securing with a lock on the other side. We then can turn the black T handle at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. Now that our Kuat Sherpa is secured to our Honda Fit, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. With the platform folded up, we have about11" of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Honda Fit is here at the rear bumper, about 2" away. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes, and tighten with a wrench. Now with our Thule Hitching Post Pro secured to our Honda Fit, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Honda Fit is here at the rear bumper, about 7" away, and we've added about 17" to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the gold pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out we've added about 36" to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area, we'll pull the gold pin at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. more

We'll line up the pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes, and tighten with a wrench. Now that our Thule Vertex is secured to our Honda Fit, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about ten inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Honda Fit is here at the rear bumper, about four inches away. We've added about eleven inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the gray lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out, we've added about thirty five inches to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area, we'll pull the gray lever at the base of the carrier, to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our vehicle's cargo area. To load the bike, we'll make sure that the mast is in it's upright position. more

Today on our 2012 Honda CRV, well be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing Four Bike Carrier, part number TH9027.We'll begin by sliding the bike rack shank into the hitch and allow the integrated locking hitch pin to fall into the pin hole. We can then move to the anti-rattle knob where we'll tighten down the knob, securing our bike rack to the vehicle.We'll now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance for this bike rack is 12 and a half inches and the closest point of the bike rack to the back of our vehicle measures six inches. In its folded position, we add about 14 inches of additional length to the rear of our vehicle.Now we can go ahead and pull the hitch switch at the top of the mast and bring out our dual arms where we'll undo the straps to expose our cradles. We'll place the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around securing the bike to the bike rack.Now the advantage to the Apex Swing is that it does have the ability whether a bike is loaded on it or not, to swing out towards the passenger side of the vehicle, completely out of the way of the cargo area. We'll undo the knob here at the back of the mast where we can then pull the T-handle and begin swinging the bike rack out. more

To load the bike well undo the cradle straps, set the bike onto the frame cradles and secure them with the straps. To access the cargo area well pull out the black T-handle on the top right hand corner of the carrier and tilt it down, this will allow us to have access to our cargo door. more

Today on our 2012 Honda Pilot, well be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa Aluminum Two Bike Carrier, part number S102.Now to begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, insert the pin through the pinhole and secure with the lock on the other side. We'll then turn the black T handle to engage our anti-rattle device.Now with the carrier secured to the vehicle, well go over a few clearance measurements and see how the bike carrier and this vehicle fit together. There is about 22 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about 4 inches. With the platform folded up, weve added about 15 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.We'll now go ahead and lift the gold handle to tilt the platform down and we'll measure from the vehicles cargo door to the end of the carriers platform and we'll get a measurement of 34 inches.To load the bike, we'll raise the wheel hook at the top of the mast and we'll undo the tray strap. We'll set the bike onto the platform, adjust the wheel hook on the front wheel just before the front caliber and secure with the rear tray strap.To access the cargo area, we'll again pull the gold handle that we used to lower the platform to lower it in a second position. more

Today weve got a 2011 Honda CRV and were going to be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa hitch mounted bike carrier, part number s102. To mount the carrier to the vehicle well insert the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch, well line up our hitch pin holes and well use the hand knob at the end of the shank to tighten down our anti-rattle device. Next well go over a handful of clearance measurements. Weve got about 13 inches of clearance from the bottom of the bike rack to the ground, weve got about two inches of clearance between the closet part of the carrier and the closet part of the vehicle, overall weve added about 14 inches of length to the vehicle when the carrier is folded up. Now we want to check for rear vehicle access, well pull the release level at the base of the bike rack and tilt it down flat, well open the cargo door of our Honda CRV to make sure we can still access the area even with the bike rack installed. Now we can go ahead and load up a bike, well open the ratcheting arm and extend it all the way out, well also undo the wheel strap of the cradle closest to the vehicle, well pick up our bike, sit it into the wheel tray and secure it first using the ratcheting hook up front, well place it on the tire just ahead of the front brake caliber. more

Today on our 2011 Honda Fit well be test fitting part number TH934XTR the Thule Hitching Post Folding and Tilting 4 Bike Rack with Anti-Sway Cradles for both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches. Please note that when using on class 1 hitch with this bike rack you are limited to two bikes. Now to begin our test fit weve already removed the adaptor for the 2-inch hitch and well be using this on a class 1 hitch. Well now slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. more
