Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2 for our 2021 Toyota RAV 4. Now, the Skaha 2 is going to be a platform-style bike rack, able to accommodate up to two bikes with an individual weight capacity of 60 pounds each. That does mean that our heavier e-bikes are going to be an option for this one. Our two main points of contact are going to be a hook on our front wheel and just a strap on our back wheel. But since we are making no frame contact, that does mean that our alternative frame bikes and our carbon fiber frame bikes are going to be an option for these as well. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hey everyone, I'm Charles with etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at the Saris MHS modular bike rack for two bikes for two inch hitches on the 2017 Toyota RAV4. So, this is a platform style rack made out of a steel and aluminum construction with a black powder coat finish, making it rust resistant and very durable. So, one of the cool things about this rack system is that it does have a tilt away function. It's right here on the handle. Something to keep in mind as this does carry heavy bikes, that you are gonna have the weight of those two bikes when you are tilting away and lifting back up. So, something I like to do is just keep one hand here or on the closest bike, take a step back, so that I don't get knocked out before my ride. more

RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away 2 Bike Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everybody, Cooper here from etrailer and today we are going to be looking at our RockyMounts AfterParty on our 2017 Toyota RAV4. The AfterParty is a platform style bike rack that's gonna be able to hold up to two bikes and then those bikes are going to be weighted for 60 pounds each. The way that the AfterParty holds the bike is actually in a frameless contact way where it is ratcheting arms on either side of the bike, so that way it is held perfectly within place. One of the big advantages of the AfterParty is it's feature to go ahead and tilt away from the car allowing us a lot more access to our back end compared to some of the other bike racks that don't. So with something like this, I'm a lot more comfortable sitting down, maybe actually having the room and availability to tie my shoes because it is swung back away, you know, before or after loading, hitting the trails. And in order to lift it back up we actually don't have to pull on the handle. more

Now, right off the bat, I do wanna let you know that if you have a carbon-fiber frame bike, this is not the bike rack for you. Now, this has three points of attachment on your frame. Now they are rubber and they're nice, but they're not made for carbon fiber. Now as far as function goes, if you want to remove your bike, it's pretty easy. more

Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium four bike hanging style bike rack and how it fits on the back of our 2022 Toyota RAV4. This is a hanging style bike rack and it does taper towards the end, which we'll get to in just a little bit, but it might be a good option for you if you're trying to transport up to four bikes, at 180 pounds total, where you need 'em to go. Our bike is held in place by these cradles, two on either side with these rubber straps as well as this rubber strap to prevent it from swaying in the back. So it will make frame contact with your bike which is important to keep in mind cuz if you do have a carbon frame bike it could potentially damage the frame while you're driving. Like I mentioned, you can see that it does taper here towards the end. more

Hey it's Ethan here at eTrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 bike platform rack. And how it fits in the back of our 2022 Toyota Rav4. Gonna be a good option for you if you do need the ability to get four bikes to the trail. It's capable of supporting up to 35 pounds per bike, held primarily by the center mast here. These clamps do rotate and they are padded so they will support the frame a little bit, but we still don't recommend using carbon frame bikes, in the event that you are traveling with them, they have the potential to be damaged while the bike is moving. more

And it's gonna hold onto our bike primarily by the wheel here, with this wheel hook, and one extra strap at the back, which is nice 'cause it doesn't make any frame contact. So if you wanted to transport some carbon frame bikes, you wouldn't have to worry about damaging the frame. more

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going everyone Ethan at etrailer here today to talk to you about the RockyMounts MonoRail on our 2022 Toyota RAV4. The RockyMounts MonoRail is a two-bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bikes right here with the wheel hook, and another point of contact right down here with this wheel strap. So because it holds the bike by the wheel rather than the frame, it's gonna be a good bike rack for your carbon fiber bikes or your alternative style bikes because there won't be any frame contact like I mentioned before. And it supports up to 60 pounds per bike, so it should be fine for any of your higher range mountain bikes. Another thing I like about this bike rack is that if you come down here and pull this blue lever, it allows you to tilt the bike rack towards you and in doing so you can actually come around and access the cargo area. And as you can see, plenty of clearance. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going everyone It's Ethan at etrailer here, today taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination on our 2022 Toyota RAV4. How this rack's actually gonna hold onto our bike is by using these padded rotating cradles that also have a zip strip on the end of them, they rotate 360 degrees, and they can support alternative frames, but if you we're to have a carbon frame bike, it's something you probably wanna avoid. Our bike is then held on by two secondary points of contact at the bottom here, these straps, one goes through the front, one goes through the back. The bike rack itself doesn't tilt away, which is something you're gonna wanna keep in mind, but we'll go ahead and show you how the bike comes off. So you're gonna go ahead and release this back strap first, come around to the front side, release this other strap. And this is where it can get a little bit tricky with this one, because you're gonna have to hold the bike while you manipulate this, and for our mountain bike here, it's actually going through the cup holder, so it's something to keep in mind, is that it might not be the perfect fit for all of your bikes, but if you just bear with me, should come out eventually, there we go. more

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going, everyone Ethan with Etrailer here to show you the Yakima FullTilt Hanging Bike Rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. This rack will support five bikes up to 150 pounds total. So about 30 pounds per bike. One thing to consider is that it's probably not gonna be the best fit for alternative style and kids style bikes. And if you have a carbon frame bike, you probably wanna avoid any sort of use of this at all 'cause it's gonna be held solely on the frame here. Okay, so one thing that we're gonna note here is that once you take this anti-sway out of play, and I can't, it's not the easiest thing to get to in the world to be honest but once you get that out, you're gonna notice that the bike does move pretty good back and forth but gravity usually does its thing and holds those in place for the most part. more

How's it going everybody It's Ethan at etrailer here today to talk to you about the Swagman Current bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Current is a two bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bike primarily by the frame hooks here and by a couple different secondary points of contact down at the bottom with our straps it's capable of supporting up to 60 pounds per bike. One of the things I like about this rack is the tilt away feature. Pulling up on this green knob lever in the back, tilt it down and that should give you plenty of clearance to access cargo hold in the back. As you can see, no real issues with that at all. Plenty of space to get in, change shoes, access anything that you might need from the cargo area and get back out. more

For example, with our carbon frame bike here, it's just nice to know that there's not gonna be any damages with that, as you're bumping along on the road. And in general, I think it's a pretty solid hold. Another great feature of the Transfer here, if you lift this hook away, you can use your foot actually to access this pedal. more

The frame hooks do hold the bike, like I mentioned, primarily by the frame itself. So if that's something that's important to you or if you have a carbon frame bike, you're probably gonna wanna avoid this type of rack, just 'cause it could potentially damage the frame while you're driving. Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Yakima stage two bike rack on the 2017 Toyota RAV4. So this is your front wheel mount platform style bike rack that's gonna let you carry up to four bikes but a quick thing to note before we talk about the features that make this premium choice is that the hitch has a weight rating and your vehicle has a weight rating so make sure you don't exceed the lower of the two. The closest two trays will let you carry up to 60 pounds per bike. And the further two will let you carry 40 pounds per bike. For our 2017 RAV4, we are going to be able to carry 37 and a half pounds per bike so that we don't exceed that limit. more

So, this is your fixed platform style bike rack that is great for carrying those heavy electric bikes. You can carry up to 70 pounds per bike on this thing. If you have a carbon frame style bike, this probably wouldn't be a great choice for you, since we are being held on by the center frame here. This is your platform-style bike rack, that's gonna let you carry up to 50 pounds per bike. The carrier itself is about 92 pounds, so if we max this out, we'd be looking about 300 pounds. Your hitch is gonna have its max capacity, and so is your vehicle. Make sure you do not exceed the lower of those two numbers. It is gonna be made out of a steel construction, so it's gonna make it very durable. more

So the first impressions of it on the back of the RAV4, I actually think it looks pretty good, especially in this color combination. It matches nice, and it holds the bikes up about where I would want 'em personally. So not up so high where it's gonna completely obstructive the view out of the back window, but up enough to where you can kind of keep an eye on 'em. With that said, this particular rack can hold up to a total of four bikes, but if you need to carry an additional one, there's a five-bike version available. more

Today, on our 2021 Toyota RAV4, we're gonna be taking a look at the Malone Runway Max Four-bike Rack. First thing I noticed with the rack is that it sits relatively low. I'm not a very tall fella, and the RAV4 doesn't really sit too far off the ground. So if you're looking for something that's gonna be a little bit easier so you don't have to lift the bikes up that much, this one's gonna do a great job. So let's get a little measurement for you. In fact, this tire mount is a pretty good idea if you have a carbon fiber bike that you don't warp the frame in, or if you have a really nice paint finish that you don't want to scratch, this would be a good idea. If you have fenders on your bike though, and like my bike has a basket, this would not fit that well. more

Thule Doubletrack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi, it's Evangeline from etrailer.com and today we're looking at this Thule Doubletrack platform-style two bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. Now this bike rack is needed if you want to take two bikes out for a trip, so you and maybe your spouse's bike or your friend's bike, and with these adjustable wheel mounts, even your children's bike can fit onto this bike rack. And if you have a carbon fiber though bike, or with a custom paint finish, these have frame mounts. So these wouldn't be that best of an option for that. But if you're not worried about that, and you just want to take your two bikes out, if they have fenders, this is great, and we'll keep everything securely in place. Extra securely with these. more

So one of the main things right off the bat that I noticed about this rack is that it's going to sit up pretty high, and that's really going to help with our ground clearance, which is always important especially, on a vehicle like the RAV4. So today we're looking at the rack that can hold up to a total of two bikes. However, there's also a one bike version available, as well. So one of the main things that I really like about this rack, and what really separates it is the way it's going to secure your bike. So we're going to have two wheel hooks, one for each tire, and that's something you don't always see, a lot of times it's just one wheel hook and a small little strap, or something there at the back.This one would give me a little more peace of mind, especially with an expensive bike, knowing that it's really secure. more

The great news is that although we have the three bike version here, it is also available in a two bike or a four bike to suit your family's needs. So it is a hanging style bike rack. It holds your bike in place by the top tube and hook and loop straps are going to secure it. Now, one of the many questions we get here in regards to hitch-mounted bike racks is if you're still going to be able to have full access to your hatch. Well, this one does fold down to allow that, and to do that, if we come down here to this pin, all we have to do is pull it out.And I do want to point out, whenever you pull this pin out, there's going to be nothing stopping this rack from going forward. So to avoid potentially damaging or scratching your hatch, you want to make sure you have a hand on it. We pull the pin out, and we're able to just set it down, and now we're going to have more than enough room to get all of our stuff in and out of our hatch.Now, one thing I do really like is where our bike is going to hang. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2019 Toyota RAV4- Video
Rob: Rob here at Etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro four hanging style bike rack on a 2019 Toyota Rav 4. Our Hitching Post Pro is going to allow us to take up to four bikes to and from the trail. It's a hanging style, so we'll have three points of contact. We're going to have two on the cross tube here, and we're going to have another one of the vertical support. The one on the vertical support is going to act with the anti sway to prevent the bike from moving too much and causing that bike-to-bike contact.Let's go ahead and pull our bike off so we can take a closer look. The strap's here should be rubber coated and we see we just stretch them and pull them loose. more
