Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Chrysler Town and Country - Curt

Today on our 2008 Chrysler Town & Country we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt Class II Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C12264. Here's what our hitch looks like fully installed. It's going to sit up underneath our bumper and all we're going to see is the receiver tube opening. Now, it is a class II, so it's going to give you that inch and 1/4 by inch and 1/4 receiver tube opening, and it has a nice reinforced collar, giving it that nice clean, flush look. Now, our hitch is going to use a standard 1/2 inch pin and clip which is included, so that's a nice benefit of not having to pick anything extra up. Now, the safety chain loops are going to be a rolled steel stock that's welded onto the bottom and as you can see, we're going to have plenty of room to get most sized chains on or off without interfering with anything. Now, our hitch is going to feature a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating and a 350 pound tongue weight. more

It offers the 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening, it's part number is 76046. Here's what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see something I like about this hitch, our cross tube stays pretty hidden up behind the fascia. That's different than what we've seen from some of the other hitches. Whereas that's going to come over here to our receiver tube opening, this is 2 inch by 2 inches. Reinforcement collar around in there looks nice and neat. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, we're going to review and install the Draw-Tite class three receiver hitch, part number 75522. This is what the hitch looks like once installed on Pacifica. Our hitch does have a two inch opening right here, which works with a wide variety of ball-mounts, and other accessories such as bike racks or cargo carriers. Also, you can see how it fits on the vehicle on the edge of the hitch here, it's just behind this edge of the bumper. You notice our hitch has two holes on each side. This 5/8 diameter hole right here is designed for your hitch-pins, or locking hitch-pins, for all of your accessories. This smaller diameter hole here that is on both sides, is designed for use of J-pin stabilization pin. That works with all of your accessories and ball-mounts that do not have their own anti-rattle devices built in. On the very bottom of our hitch, we have our safety-chain loops right here. more

Today on our 2006 Chrysler Town and Country, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, Part Number 75305. Here's what a hitch looks like once it's installed. As you can see, it tucks up fairly nicely behind the bumper of our vehicle. The only part that really hangs down is the two hitch receive itself, and a frame of the hitch. You see we've got this nice cutout around the exhaust, so we don't have to lower the exhaust all to install the hitch. The hitch installs using factory hardware already on the vehicle, so there's no drilling or modification of the vehicle required at all. more

Today on our 2013 Chrysler 300, we will be installing the Curt Class II 1-1/4" Receiver Hitch, Part Number C12064. As you can see, a very minimal amount hangs down. The only part you really see is the 1-1/4" receiver right here and the two loops that are easily accessible for our safety chain hooks for our trailer to attach to. It has a nice gloss black powder-coated finish, so it'll be durable and provide us some corrosion residence from the salt and road grim and debris which may come in contact with it. This hitch has a 3,500-pound gross trailer weight reading and a 350-pound max tongue weight rating. You'll want to consult the owner's manual of your Chrysler 300 and go by the numbers that are listed in it. For a few measurements to better assist you in choosing any hitch-mounted accessories such as ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers, you're looking at about 8 1/4" from the ground to the top of the 1 1/4" receiver, and you're looking at about 6" from the center of the 1/2" diameter hitch pin hole out to the far point of the bumper. If you're using this for a non-trailer application, such as using it for a bike rack or a cargo carrier, Curt requires that you use a cargo stabilization strap just to help support some of the load that is being placed on the hitch. more

Today on our 2013 Chrysler 300, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Class 2 inch and a quarter trailer hitch receiver, part number 36548. Here's what our Draw-Tite hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it's a really clean installation. A very minimal amount is hanging down beneath the vehicle, just the inch and a quarter receiver right here sticking out a little bit underneath the bottom lip of the bumper, but it's still recessed behind the actual edge of the bumper, so it's not something you're going to be walking by and hitting your shin or your knee on. Plate here on the bottom of the hitch gives us a nice, secure mounting location for our safety chains, really easy to get to for you. This hitch has a half-inch diameter pin hole here, so you're going to use that for your hitch pin, your locking device, to secure your ball mount, bike carrier, or cargo rack. Just keep that in mind. This hitch has a 3500-pound max gross trailer weight rating, and a 300-pound max gross tongue weight rating. Now you want to consult the owner's manual of your Chrysler 300 and go by its number listed there. If the vehicle's only rated to tow 3000 pounds, obviously you don't want to go to the 3500 pounds that the hitch is rated for, or you could cause damage to the vehicle. Now for a few measurements to help you in choosing any hitch mounted accessories out there for you, such as ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers, you're looking about six inches from the center of the hitch pin hole, out to the back of the bumper cover, and you're looking about ten inches from the ground to the top of the inch and a quarter Class 2 opening on the hitch. more
