Curt Double Lock Flip and Store Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2009 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 we're going to take a look at, and also show you how to install, the curt double lock flip and store under bed gooseneck hitch with installation kit. Part number is C60712. Here's what our gooseneck is going to look like installed and not in use. That's one of the biggest advantages to the flip and store system is that we're able to use our bed completely when not in use. We're not like the old school style where we just had a ball always sticking up in the middle of the bed. When we're ready for use, we're going to pull the black rubberized protective cap off. That keeps out any dirt, grime, stuff like that. more

They would sit lower if this wasn't in here but you see we just put some zip ties on it so you get ahold of them. On a spray-in bed liner or a normal bed liner you won't have to deal with that. We're going to have a small magnetic cap that's going to sit right on top of the gooseneck. more

Today on our 2007 Chevy Silverado, New Body style, we'll be installing the B and W Turnover Ball, Underbed, Gooseneck trailer hitch with custom installation kit, rated for 30,000lbs. Part number BWGNRK1067. Now we've already gone ahead and removed the spare tire, as well as pulled both the rear wheel off the vehicle. Next we'll need to go ahead and lower the exhaust down, we'll do this by removing the rear rubber exhaust hanger and letting the exhaust hang down low enough. Now we'll need to remove the heat shield, or at least a portion of it. The directions say to remove between crossmember and crossmember, but it's actually between the hatch channel of the actual bed, not the crossmember or the frame of the vehicle. You really only need to remove the heat shield in between the two hatch sections on the bed, to do this you can either use a set of tin snips or a cutoff wheel. Now that we have the heat shield out of the way, now we need to go into the bed of the vehicle and mark our location where we'll be drilling a 4-inch hole through the bed of the vehicle. more
