Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs Installation - 2018 Toyota RAV4- Video

Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs Installation - 2018 Toyota RAV4

Rob: Rob, here at etrailer.com. And today, we're going to be taking a look at the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs for the rear axle on our 2018 Toyota RAV4.Now, whether you're towing a boat trailer, jet ski trailer or maybe you just have a car full of gear, or you have a cargo carrier on the back of your RAV4 carrying a lot of gear, we get a lot of weight added to the back and the back end starts to sag down. Now, this is going to do a couple different things. Our ride quality is going to suffer because our suspension is not having as much travel, which means, potentially, we could start bottoming out, just a really uncomfortable ride. Not to mention, all the strain and stress that it puts on the rear suspension, eventually wearing things out.And then, here in the front, the front is actually going to start stretching upwards because it's going to cause a teetering effect, all the weight on the back of our RAV4. So, our tires aren't going to have as much contact with the ground, which means our steering and braking is going to be diminished. more

Ryan: How's it going Ryan here @etrailer.com. Today on our 2018 GMC Sierra 1500, we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 Air Helper Springs for the rear axle. Now, before we put our airbags on, what we're going to do is take a measurement to find our factory ride height without any weight in the bed of the truck. Now, if we measure here at the front, from the ground to the edge of our wheel well, it's going to be about 40.5" and here at the back from the ground to the wheel well, we're going to be right at 41 inches. So I went ahead and put a significant amount of weight in the bed of our truck. And now we can take those same measurements. more

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System Installation - 2005 GMC Sierra

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you will be taking a look at the Timbren rear suspension enhancement system on our 2005 GMC Sierra. Now, a big reason why you might want a suspension enhancement system on your Sierra is because if you tow a trailer a lot, you'll notice that the back-end start to squat down. Well, not only is it putting a lot of stress and strain on the rear suspension, but it's also affecting the front with the back-end going down the front-end is going to get stretched upward. Which means we're going to have less contact on our tires, which means our braking and steering is going to be diminished. Not to mention that our headlights are going to be pointing up. We'll potentially be blinding people when we're driving down the road. more

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Installation - 2019 Ram 2500

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Timbren rear suspension enhancement system on our 2019 Ram 2500. Now, the reason why you might want a suspension upgrade on your Ram is because whenever we're towing a heavy trailer or we have a heavy load in the back of the truck, we'll notice that the back end is going to want to sag down. Well, not only are we putting a lot of strain and stress on our suspension, but we're actually doing a little bit of harm to the front of our truck as well. The back end is going to get pushed down, the front end's going to get raised up, which means our tires aren't going to be in contact as well. Not to mention our headlights are going to be pointing up rather than down at the road, so we're going to be blinding people as we drive. So we're going to go ahead and measure our truck the way it sits now that we can get a baseline, we'll add some weight, and remeasure it. So if I measure it from the center line of the wheel to the arch of the wheel well, I'm getting about 43 and 3/4 inches here at the back. more

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System Installation - 2015 Toyota Sienna

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.Com, and today you're gonna be taking a look at the Timbren rear suspension enhancement our 2015 Toyota Sienna. There's a lot of different reasons why you'd want a suspension enhancement on the back of your van. Part of the reason may be that you're towing a trailer. Once you put that heavy weight on the back, it's going to push down on the back end of the van, put a lot of strain and stress on the suspension. Not to mention anybody riding in the van is going to be extremely uncomfortable because this suspension isn't going to have enough travel. We're gonna end up bottoming out.All that feeling is going to resonate through the seats, and again, this is not going to be very comfortable. But since the back end is getting pushed down, the front end is going to rise up, which brings up a few more problems. Our tires start to wear unevenly. Our alignment is kind of off. more

Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Airlift LoadLifter 5,000 Air Helper Springs for the rear axle on our 2019 Ford F-150. Now, the need for airbags comes in when you're towing a heavy trailer, you have a heavy load in the back or anything that's going to be putting a lot of weight on the back axle of your truck. What ends up happening is we have all that weight that starts pushing down, puts a lot of strain and stress on the rear axle. Not to mention, it's going to end up causing a teetering effect, which will pull up the front end, which means our tires aren't going to be in contact as well, which means our braking and steering is going to be diminished. Plus, our headlights are going to be aiming up, potentially blinding people if you're driving at night.I'm going to go ahead and put the weight of my trailer down on my truck and we'll see how much it actually affects the back end. Now, you can see that it did lower our rear suspension just a little bit. more

What these are going to do, these are going to help you reduce body roll and sway while giving you a more comfortable ride while you're traveling. With these big RVs, because they're so top heavy, what happens is when you get a cross wind, the top kind of leans like this. Well, what it does is it kind of pushes you over that way. Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Installation - 2016 Honda Odyssey

Rob here etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Timbren rear suspension enhancement on our 2016 Honda Odyssey. Now rear suspension enhancements are going to come into play whenever you have a lot of cargo in the back or you're towing a trailer that's going to make the back end sag. Once you put all that weight in the back, it does cause the back end to push down. As you can see in the back here at the wheel well, it's actually getting really close to the tire, which means we're not going to have a lot of travel for our suspension, giving us a really rough ride and it's putting a lot of strain back here. But if we move to the front, we can see that it's actually pulling the front up, causing that teetering effect. Now what that's going to do is that's going to wear down our tires unevenly because our tires are going to get out of alignment. Not to mention our headlights are going to be pointing up, so potentially blinding people who are driving down the road, and our braking is going to be diminished because we don't have as much pressure on our contact on the front tires. more

The need for airbags comes in whenever you have a heavy load in the back of your truck, or if you're towing a heavy trailer. But as soon as we start putting a lot of gear, a trailer back here, anything we start weighing it down, the back end is really going to start squatting. Hey there, Ford van owners. Today on your 2006 Ford van we're going to be installing Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 air helper springs for the rear axle. This is what our air bags look like when they're installed. They're going to sit between your frame and your rear axle to provide load leveling support across the back of your vehicle. They offer up to 5,000 pounds of load leveling support. Now you want to keep in mind that this doesn't increase the amount of weight that you can carry in your vehicle, just how much it can assist in supporting. They operate between five and 100 psi. more

SumoSprings Maxim Rear Helper Springs Installation - 2012 Tiffin Allegro Motorhome

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle on our 2012 Tiffin Allegro Motor Home. Now here at etrailer.com, we get a lot of questions about motor homes, specifically about suspension upgrades. Because whether you've been driving for a little bit or for a long time, you realize real quickly that motor homes are real top-heavy. They don't handle all that well, and we end up fighting the steering wheel and just kind of have a nervous feeling when we're driving.Well, and that's partially because the suspension isn't really all that tight, and it ends up having a lot of mushy feeling to it. Our SumoSprings in the back are going to help support all that extra weight, because typically you'll have a bedroom or a bathroom towards the back, and that's a lot of weight to put on the rear axle, not to mention if you're flat-towing a car with you so you can enjoy the campground, go out to dinner or anything else. That extra weight of the car is all pushing down on the rear axle. So, extra support would definitely help out with all that swaying feeling and to support that extra weight. more

Specifically about suspension upgrades, because let's face it, whether you're new or you've been driving a motorhome for a while, we realize that they don't handle all that well. They're pretty bumpy and there's a lot of area here for the wind to catch, which means that we're going to start getting pushed around on the highway. If we get a strong gust of wind, a truck drives by, we end up fighting that steering wheel because we're getting pushed to the side. Not to mention everybody in the back's getting tossed around. We really can't enjoy our motorhome. more

SumoSprings Rebel Front Axle Helper Springs Installation - 2018 Jayco Alante Motorhome

Today on our 2018 Jayco Alante, we're going to be taking a look at the SumoSprings helper springs for the front axle. Here at etrailer.com we get a lot of questions about motor homes, specifically about suspension upgrades. Because let's face it, whether you're new to it or you've been driving a motor home for a while, we all notice real quickly that they're extremely top heavy, and there's a lot of area for the wind to catch, which means our motor home's going to get pushed around. Whether we're driving down the highway and a truck passes us or there's a big gust of wind, we end up sitting there fighting the steering wheel, getting pushed around, not to mention everybody in the back's not having that good a time because they're getting pushed around as well.So before we put any suspension components on our motor home, let's take it on our test course and see how it handles. As I come up to the slalom course, I'm going in and out of turns, I can definitely feel a lot of body roll. As soon as I go into the turn, it really feels like the motor home wants to lean really hard before it even actually turns. Now that we have our suspension components installed, let's take our motor home back out on the test course and see how it improved the ride.As I come up to the slalom course, I can immediately feel a big difference. Don't get me wrong, there's still a little bit of a sway to it, but it's a lot more controlled and it is diminished a lot. I feel a lot more in control of the motor home, and it genuinely feels a lot smaller than it really is.Here's what our SumoSprings are going to look like once we have them installed. more

These are going to be designed to reduce body roll and sway, and give you a much more comfortable ride while you're traveling. For those of you that are new to RVing, if you haven't driven long distance yet, there's things called cross winds. And when you get next to a tractor trailer, there's wind that comes in between both you and that tractor trailer, and it kind of moves the RV. I know firsthand, I've driven RVs. I have gone to several states camping with an RV, so I know what it's like to be on the road using one, especially without Sumo Springs. more

Firestone Ride-Rite Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

So today on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, we're going to be installing Firestone's Ride-Rite RED Label Extreme Duty air helper springs for the rear axle. It's a double-convoluted design, which has a higher burst pressure than your traditional design. The airbags sit between the frame and your axle to help provide load-leveling support. What's nice about airbags that sets them apart from other suspension enhancements such as Timbrens is the fact that it's adjustable. You can increase or decrease the pressure depending on the load you have to get the most optimal ride and braking and handling performance. There is some maintenance required. Air pressures will fluctuate with humidity and temperature, so you may have to adjust your airbags from time to time if you don't load very often to maintain the pressure. It's a no-drill installation. more

Ryan: Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2012 GMC Sierra 2500, we're going to be taking a look at it, and showing you how to install the TorkLift StableLoader suspension upgrade. Now, one thing that separates this suspension enhancement from any of the others and probably one of my personal favorites, is how easy it is to disengage it when you're not using it. And because of that, you can still maintain your factory ride. To disengage it, just pull our pin. Pop that out. And you can simply move the wedges out of the way, and put your pin back in place. more

Now here at etrailer.com, we get a lot of questions about motor homes, specifically about the suspension upgrades, because let's face it, a motor home is a very tall, top heavy vehicle that can be extremely difficult and a little unnerving to drive. Because whether you're new or even doing it for a while, you realize real quickly that since it is so top heavy, and we have a large area, it catches a lot of wind. So we end up getting pushed around whether we're driving down the highway from a truck, a big gust of wind, or even a rut in the road. There's got to be a simpler way to feel more in control and actually enjoy your motor home. So before we put any of our parts on, let's take it out on the test course and see how it handles. As I'm going over the bumps here, I can definitely feel a jarring going through the seat and it really doesn't want to react as quick. more

Timbren Rear Suspension System Installation - 2015 GMC Sierra 3500

Today in our 2015 GMC Sierra 3500, we're going to be installing Timbrens rear suspension enhancement system. And this is what our Timbrens look like when they're installed. They just replace our factory jounce bumper, but they're much more robust looking. You can see that they don't contact when the vehicle's unloaded, but it will contact right away once you put a little bit of load on it. The spring itself is designed to compress and the more it compresses, the stronger it gets providing more and more support. If you have a small load in the back to where it just barely touches, you're going to get some minimal support, it's just going to help smooth out your ride, reduce some sway and just be an overall more enjoyable experience. more
