Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar Installation - 2018 Coachmen Mirada Motorhome- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Blue Alpha 2 tow bar on a 2018 Coachmen Mirada. Now this tow bar is gonna be great for your etrailer, Demco or Blue Ox base plates and you can actually get adaptable arms for the base plate of your road master to work with this as well. Now there's five main components when flat towing a vehicle, and starting on the vehicle side, you're going to have your base plate and that's simply going to attach to the frame or the bumper support of the vehicle to give us dirty connection point for your tow bar to connect. Now on your base plate, a lot of times you're also gonna have your safety chain loop integrated as well. So the next point that we need is our tow bar and that's gonna be the connection point between that base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now you're also gonna have those safety cables like I mentioned before, with your safety chain loops here, and these are gonna criss-cross under here to the RV hitch, and that way, in case of an accidental disconnect, you still have these cables holding onto the vehicle. more

Hey, everybody. How's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar here on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. So a tow bar is just one of the many things that we need in order to tow our vehicle. In addition to that, we're gonna need a base plate kit, safety cables, however, the Alpha 2 actually comes with its own safety cables, so you don't have to worry about buying those separately. We're also gonna need some sort of lighting system to control the lights on the vehicle, as well as a braking system. In fact, you can actually get this model with Blue Ox ends if you have a Blue Ox base plate on your vehicle, so you can still attach and you're not limited. When flat towing a vehicle, there's five main components that are required and we're gonna start with the base plate. And the base plate is attached to the vehicle, to the frame and that's gonna have our arms as well as all of our hookup points for the rest of our connections, so that's the main thing you're gonna need on your vehicle. more

A tow bar is gonna be the physical connection between the trailer hitch on the motor home and the base plate kit here on the towed vehicle. So it's gonna be one of the several other components that we need to successfully flat to our vehicle, including a base plate kit. A lot of the tow bars such as this one come with the safety cables, therefore we don't need to purchase that separately. We're also gonna need a supplemental braking system in most states and a wiring harness to transmit the signals. The SD Tow Bar is rated for 6,000 pounds, which is gonna be more than enough for the Cherokee here, you shouldn't ever have to worry about exceeding that. more

And this is what our tow bar looks like when it's installed. It's a connection between our motorhome and our vehicle, so we can pull this behind us when we're going down the road. A flat tow setup is gonna be significantly more natural in the way that it tracks behind your motorhome. So, it's gonna increase your driving feel when going down the road. more

The other features that the most premium ones come with, are just kind of a, more like luxury items, if you want it to look a little bit nicer, but this really has the basics, plus the nice amenities. We've got channels that run down the side, and to me that's a huge thing because it keeps our cables from dragging on the pavement. more

This is available with either Roadmaster ends so it'll connect directly to any Roadmaster base plate or we also have it available with Blue Ox ends. If you wanna go with a Blue Ox setup.
