Roadmaster Diode 7 to 6 Wire Coil Kit Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Speaker 1: Today on this 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Seven Wire to Six Wire Flexo Coil Wiring Kit, part number RM-15267.Here's what our diodes look like installed. Now, the reason you're going to want this wiring harness and diode kit for your vehicle is because when you're flat towing, you need to have a lighting system to stay legal. By utilizing diodes, we can use the factory bulbs in our taillight assembly and not have to worry about using magnetic tow lights on our vehicle, which can scratch the paint. We simply make a connection between the motor home and our Colorado, and we'll have our factor lights working for our taillights, our turn signals, and our brake lights. These diodes are great because not only do they utilize the factory bulbs that we already have, but the also prevent the flow of electricity from the motor home back into the expensive components of the Colorado, so we don't need to worry about any electrical back feed causing any damage to the vehicle's wiring or computer systems. Now, what's great about this kit is that we get a six way connector on the front of the vehicle with a nice spring loaded dust cover to keep the elements out. Now, for this particular flat tow setup, we use the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate, a Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, the Roadmaster Seven to Six Wire Diode Flexo Coil Wiring Kit for our lighting system. For our braking system, we use an SMI Stay and Play Duo, and for our tow bar we use a Roadmaster Falcon Two Tow Bar. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Chevrolet Equinox we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Fuse Master Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles, part number RM-76517. Here's what our fuse bypass looks like installed. What this is going to allow us to do is not have to go underneath the hood every time we need to pull our ABS fuse for when we want to flat tow our vehicle safely. This fuse in here is the original ABS fuse, it's just been relocated. We have this solenoid here, which will cut off the flow of electricity into the vehicle itself. With a simple flip of the switch, we can disable the circuit with the solenoid and with a simple flip of the switch again, we can re-enable the circuit with the solenoid to put our vehicle back in normal driving mode. This saves you time and energy, and you don't have to worry about losing a fuse after you pull it, leaving yourself stranded on the side of the road. more

Speaker 1: Today in this 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins Custom Taillight Wiring Kit for towed vehicles, part number HM56108.Here's what it looks like with our towed vehicle wiring installed. What's great about this is that this is going to give use our necessary lighting functions as required by law so we can safely and legally flat tow our Equinox behind our motor home. We'll have our brake lights like we have here as well as our other lighting functions that we need. Now, another nice thing about this is that there is no cutting or splicing of any of your factory wiring. So, you don't have to worry about voiding the warranty on your new vehicle. Also, it's not a separate bulb and socket that goes inside the taillight assembly. So, you don't have to worry about drilling a hole in your taillight assembly, thus giving you a potential area for water to get inside. It's a nice sealed system, utilizes the factory bulb that's already in your vehicle so you don't have to worry about putting magnetic tow lights on the side of the car, which could damage the paint. For this particular flat tow setup, we used a Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, the Hopkins Custom Taillight Wiring Kit for towed vehicles, a Roadmaster FuseMaster fuse bypass, a Blue Ox 7-wire to 6-wire coiled cord kit, a Roadmaster battery charge line kit, a Blue Ox Patriot 2 portable braking system and a Blue Ox Alpha tow bar. Now, depending upon your application, you may or may not need a high-low adapter to ensure that your tow bar is level between your motor home and Equinox. more

Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Sonic

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Sonic we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Roadmaster FuseMaster fuse bypass switch for towed vehicles with two 20 amp mini fuses, and that's going to be part number RM76512. Now we're also going to be installing the Roadmaster FuseMaster fuse bypass with the single 20 amp mini fuse, part number RM76511, because of our specific configuration. You should always double check your owner's manual and see which fuses need to be pulled in your Sonic. So here's what our fuse bypass switches look like once we have them installed. The owner's manual in our Sonic does recommend that we pull a fuse out before we tow, and these switches are going to prevent us from having to reach underneath the dash, or going underneath the hood every time that we tow it. A simple flip of the switch and we're going to cut the power going to those fuses, but at the same time flip them back and our car will drive like normal. Now an easy way to show you that our switches are working is right now they're both in the drive position. So if I turn my ignition on, we can see that everything's working normally. more

Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Spark

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Spark, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Roadmaster taillight wiring kit with bulbs for towed vehicles. Part number is RM-155.Now the RM-155 kit's going to allow us to have a bulb style light in our existing housing without having to modify our vehicle's wiring at all. It's important to have these lights on the back of your vehicle especially when flat towing like this. So all of your signals will be seen by any motorist behind you and you can remain safe. Now I'd like the option of doing this over some of the other styles like the magnet lights. Those are just going to kind of stick on the top of the car and they do have their issues sometimes with functionality. The other option you would have to the incandescent style bulb we have here on the 155 kit. more

You'll have all the necessary lightings, which includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps. Since these bulbs are separate, we don't have to tap into the vehicle's wiring system, so you don't have to worry about voiding that wiring warrantee. What's great about this is this solves the problem of us having to go underneath the dash to remove two fuses when every time we want to flat tow our vehicle. We don't have to worry about misplacing the fuses anymore because if we didn't have those fuses we wouldn't be able to start the car when we want to go some place once we've arrived at our destination. It's a simple process. Now, what I really like about this kit is that it doesn't splice into your factory wiring at all. On this vehicle, we can't us a traditional diode kit to use the vehicle's factory tail light bulbs, because they are single filament. Because of single filament, we have to add and additional bulb, and this is essentially the only kit on the market that will work for this vehicle. Now, this kit's going to give us our tail lights, our turn signals and our brake lights, so we have all the necessary functions that we need. more

But what this does is eliminate the need to take the top of this fuse box off and then take out the fuse every single time. But rather you can just come under the hood here, flip the switch when you're ready to tow it, and then when you're done towing you flip it back to drive, and you're ready to go. The fuse that you got to take out of here, the other issues is that sometimes they can be difficult to get out, and from time to time when you take that file fuse out a lot, eventually it might break. more

Here is what this wiring kit is going to look like once it is installed on the vehicle. Here at the front we have got the 6 round connector, it has got a nice spring loaded lid here so that whenever it is not in use, it is held nice and tight so that weather and the elements don't get in there and possible corrode those connections. This does a good job of making sure that these 7 way that is on your RV or motor home is able to get power down to the 6 way. It has got 4 pole wiring that is run from this connector here at the front all the way to the back and splits off in order to go either tail light. It has got diodes that go to both tail light so that the signal from the RV and the signal from the vehicles factory system are kept separate in order to make the function of the lights nice and simple as it goes through the same wire and the same connector. The blue ox fuse bypass is going to be an excellent solution for those vehicles where fuses need to be removed for it to go into tow mode. Essentially what we're going to do is just replace that fuse into the fuse bypass. Then when we turn our switch in the down position it would be just like pulling that fuse out of the power block. That's going to allow us to go into tow mode without pulling this whole panel off trying to figure out which fuse it is and pull it out. more
