Today on our 2011 Mazda, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Hitch, part number 24843. This is what our hitch will look like once in position. Next, we're going to give you a couple measurements to assist your selecting accessories for your new hitch, such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. For the center of the hitch pin hole, to the outermost edge of the bumper, is 5 1/4". From the top of the receiver tube openings to the ground, was 8 1/4". Now go ahead with the installation. The vehicle raised up, we'll point out the attachment points. We're going to have a total of 4 attachment points, 2 on each side. more

From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper it is approximately 1-1/2 inches, from the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 16-1/4 inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such s a bike rack or cargo carrier. Now we will go ahead with installation. To begin the install of our hitch we will first go ahead and point out the attachment points. We will have a total of six attachment points three on each side. First we will go ahead and get our hardware into the frame. We will take our pull wire and go into the attachment point and then run the pull wire out the end of the frame where we can slide on our block and thread on the carriage bolt. One at a time we will bleed the block and bolt into the frame rail and then pull them into position. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Mazda 5 - Draw-Tite- Video
Today, on our 2012 Mazda5, we'll be installing a Draw-Tite Sportframe trailer hitch receiver, and a class one with an inch-and-a quarter opening part number 24874. Here's what our hitch looks like installed on our vehicle. Now, we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole, to the outermost edge of the bumper is approximately 4 3/4", and from the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground, is approximately 12 1/2". Now let's go ahead and install our hitch. To begin with, we're going to need to remove two plastic rivets underneath the rear fascia of the vehicle. We will be re-installing these rivets once the trailer hitch is installed. To remove these rivets, a large flat-head screwdriver, or a trim panel removal tool works well. You simply slide it in the center portion of the push-in rivet, pulling downward, which will allow the rivet to release from the rear fascia. Now, let's go ahead and point out some of the hardware mounting locations that we'll be using. On the passenger side, there's two holes that we'll be feeding a carriage bolt and a spacer block using afish-wire technique into the frame. To gain access though, we're going to need to drill out this small hole right here to approximately one inch. A quick tech tip: It's also a good idea anywherewhere you had to drill into the frame of the vehicle, to use a little paint to cover up any exposed metal to keep this area from becoming a rust area. Now, we went ahead and used a one-inch hole saw, and we still had to do a little bit of grinding on the side to allow the spacer block to fit all the way up into the frame. more

Today, in our 2007 Mazda CX-7, well be installing the Draw -Tite Max Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver in a Class III with a two inch opening on the Receiver, part number 75512. Heres what our Hitch looks like installed on a vehicle. Now well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your Hitch, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the Hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is approximately six inches. From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground, is approximately 11 and a half inches. Now, lets go ahead and install our Hitch. Now, to begin with, were going to go ahead and add a safety strap to give the exhaust a little extra support once we remove the rubber hangers. On this particular vehicle, it is not absolutely necessary that you use a safety strap, because there will be two other hangers that help hold the rear muffler in place, but with the weight of the muffler, its a good idea to do it anyways. Now, well only be removing the two rear exhaust hangers. To get these off, we use a little spray lubricant, and a large pry bar, or if you have an exhaust removal tool, that works great too. These can be a little difficult to get off, as they are a little tight on the hanger, and once we have the two rear rubber exhaust hangers removed, with the exhaust tilted down out of the way, well need to open up one of the two holes that well be using for mounting the hardware on each side. more

Well be using these three large holes here as well as this smaller hole here. Were now ready to raise our hitch into position. Itll be a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch up while you install your hardware. Now the hardware well be using is the M12 by 125 hex bolt as well as the half inch conical tooth washer, making sure that the teeth of the washer face the hitch. more

This is our block with our square hole and well be feeding that into the bumper tube, followed by our carriage bolt thats going to fit into our block.Next, we need to fish our bolts and blocks into the bumper structure. more

Today on this 2010 Mazda 3 we are going to install part number 11383 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like on the vehicle to pick out accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 10-1/ 4 inches and from the center of the hitch pin out to the edge of the bumper is going to be 3-1/ 4 inches. Next we will show you how it gets installed on the vehicle. The first thing we need to do is remove these two bolts that hold the bumper fascia in place. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Mazda Tribute- Video
Today on this 2006 Mazda Tribute we are going to install part number 87585 from Hidden Hitch. This will also apply to part number 75693 from Draw-Tite. At this point we can start fish wiring using the pull wire, we are going to put it through the hole we are going to use and out the access hole. Next we will put the spacer block inside and we will push it on to the wire and push it into the frame and then we will thread the bolt in, push that into the frame as well, It would be a good idea to put it head first and then pull it on through. The driver side is done, lets do the same thing for the passenger side. At this point we can install the hitch by the two bolts that we installed. You want an extra set of hands to help hold it up while you push the hitch into place and thread on the conical tooth washer and nut. Now we have got the hitch hung by the two bolts. Lets get them finger tight to where we can line up the holes inside the frame with the hitch. 01:11 more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Mazda 6- Video
Today on this 2007 Mazda 6 we are going to be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 24775. This installation will also apply for Hidden Hitch part number 60846. The first thing we want to do is to go inside the trunk and remove the spare tire to get it out of our way. Moving underneath the vehicle you can see we have got dual exhaust. We want to lower down the exhaust system next to give us more room to work. There are three hangers that we are going to need to lower the exhaust off of. One here at the rear on the driver and passenger sides. If you follow forward to where the two exhausts meet there is a third hanger right there. 00:37 more

Looking under the vehicle, the first thing we want to note before installing our trailer hitch is that our exhaust is going to need to be lowered off these two rear most hangers. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004 Mazda Tribute- Video
Today we are going to install part number 75118 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2004 Mazda Tribute. Now we will show you our attaching points: they are going to be here, here and here. And it is going to be the exact same thing on the drivers side of the vehicle. We will use a wire pull first. We will push it through the bolt hole that we are going to use, out the end of the frame, and then attach our hardware to it. First we will start off with the plate and then we will end up with the carriage bolt, and we will repeat for the rest of the holes in the frame. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Mazda 5- Video
Today we are going to be installing Draw-Tite part number 24773 on a 2008 Mazda 5. OK, we are underneath the vehicle, and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. You can see the tow hook here at the bottom of the spare tire well. That is going to provide one of the attaching points. And then here at the bottom side of the bumper there are two smaller-diameter holes that we actually are going to enlarge a half-inch. And we are going to feed carriage bolts and blocks from the ends of the frame down and through these holes that we have enlarged. When drilling through the bumpers on this particular vehicle and a lot of other Ford and Mazda products, the metal is very hard to drill through with a standard drill bit. It definitely helps to use a rotobroach-type of a bit to get through there. If you do not have a slower electrical drill, use a hand-held one and set it on low setting, because that slows it down. Because the problem is it heats up awfully fast and then it will actually want to burn through the metal as opposed to drilling it. So those two items will definitely make the drilling a lot easier. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Mazda CX-9- Video
All right, today we are going to install part number 13575 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2009 Mazda CX-9. First, we are going to show you where the hitch mounts up. The hitch is going to be installed on the side of the frame using these threaded holes already existing in the frame. It is going to use four of them. And it is going to be identical on both sides. So basically, what we are going to do is slip the hitch up over the heat shield, put it into place, and just install our bolts. Now, the spare tire is here, but it looks like there is plenty of room to work with it. But, if you want, take down the spare tire to give you a little bit of extra working room, and you will have plenty of room to put the spare tire back up when you are done. We will go ahead and install our hitch. more
