Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Hyundai Genesis

Andy: Hello everyone, Andy here with etrailer. Today we're going to take a look at the Draw-Tite Class II inch and a quarter trailer hitch on our 2010 Hyundai Genesis. This trailer hitch is going to be a great option if you're needing to, let's say, add a bike rack or a cargo carrier just to free up that extra space in your vehicle. This would be a great choice for that. Also, it does have the capacity to tow a small trailer as well.So whenever you're adding accessories like a bike rack or a cargo carrier, this can accept a tongue weight rating of up to 300 pounds, so that would mean the carrier or rack plus the load that it's going to be carrying. Also, it can accommodate a towing trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. more

Here's what our hitch looks like installed on the back of our Hyundai Genesis sedan. As you can see it's a very clean installation with very minimal hanging down below the bumper at all. The only part we really see is the inch and a quarter receiver itself. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Hyundai Genesis C12086

Today we are going to install part number 12086 from Curt, and this is a 1-1/4 inch receiver hitch. And we are going to install this on a 2009 Hyundai Genesis. First off, we will show you where the hitch mounts up on the frame. We are looking underneath the passengers side of the vehicle, and we are up by the exhaust and heat shield. That little flat spot between the two is where the hitch actually mounts up on the frame. What is going to happen is, we are going to have to lower the exhaust out of the way. Then we take the heat shield down, and then we are going to put our hitch up into position. We are going to mark our holes to mount it with and then take it back down. Then we will drill out hour holes, install our hardware, and put everything back together - plus making a cutout for the exhaust shield. And this is going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. more
