Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the Demco Base Plate on a 2022 Ford F-150. There's gonna be five main components required when flat towing a vehicle, and the first is going to be the base plate. And that's gonna be the structural support that's on the frame of the vehicle, and that's gonna allow you to hook up your tow bar. And that's gonna be the connecting point between the hitch on the RV and the base plate. That way, you can safely tow it down the road. more

If you're looking for an easy way to start flat towing your F-150 behind your coach, look no further, this is Etrailer's tabless base plate kit that we've installed on our 2023 Ford F-150. Now, if you're new to flat towing, there are like five essential components that you need to start doing that, it'll be the tow bar itself, you'll need some safety cables. You'll need some sort of supplemental braking system. You're gonna need some sort of diode wiring to transmit the electrical signals back. And then mostly in today's video, what we're focusing on is the base plate, and that's gonna be this part here that actually attaches to the F-150, that's gonna be the physical link up between the tow bar and the truck itself. more

The five main components that you're gonna need to flat tow a vehicle are going to be your base plate, which is going to connect to the vehicle allowing you to pull it down the road. Next will be your tow bar, which will connect your RV to your towed vehicle to safely get it down the road. Next is gonna be your braking system. That's gonna allow the towed vehicle to stop itself while the RV is stopping itself. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Ford F-150- Video
Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox base plate for a 2016 Ford F-150. Now this is what your base plate is gonna look like when it's installed, and overall this is a really clean system because it just replaces where those factory tow hooks were, and when not towing, you can simply pull your arms out and this is gonna give it an even cleaner look. Now this is what it's gonna look like when you're not flat towing, and even though you lose your factory tow hooks, it really doesn't matter that much because you can still use your safety chain loops here, from the base plate, as your tow hooks. And, overall, it sits pretty nice in just that pocket where those tow hooks we're so, as far as the fascia, the only trimming that you may or may not have to do is mounting up the rest of your components. It does come with a bracket to mount up your 6-pole. You may or may not have air brakes, as you can see, we have our air fitting here. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit here on our 2022 Ford F-150. So a base plate is just one of the many things that we need in order to successfully flat tow our F-150. In addition to this, we're gonna need a tow bar along with some safety cables an electrical harness as well as a breaking system. So one thing you wanna keep in mind when you're selecting a base plate kit is tow bar compatibility because not every base plate and every tow bar is gonna work with one another. Chances are you need to stay within the same brand. Therefore, if you have a Blue Ox base plate kit on the vehicle, you're gonna wanna use a Blue Ox tow bar. more

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox baseplate on a 2020 Ford F-150. This baseplate system is going be a required component of flat towing a vehicle, and this is where your arms of your tow bar actually connect onto using some pins. Now, this does take away your factory tow hooks, but you do have these safety chain loops that could probably be used as well. Now, when not in use, you can also pull this pin, give it a twist, and you can see where it actually hooks onto. So this fork has this little hole here, and that's what you slide your pin through to attach to your arms. more

So a base plate kit is gonna be one of the many components that we need to successfully flat-tow our F-150. So in addition to the base plates, we're also gonna need a tow bar, a wiring harness, a supplemental braking system, and, depending on what tow bar we choose, safety cables. So, basically, what our base plate does is it provides an attachment point for the towed vehicle for the motorhome via the tow bar. Our base plate is going to be one of the key components in our flat towing setup. We have our base plate of course, we have our tow bar, we have our wiring, we have our safety cables and we have our supplemental braking system.Our base plate is going to be a steel construction with a black powder coat finish. It's going to look really nice on the front of our truck, and it's not going to stick out like some of the other base plates do. This does mount right up to where our tow hooks we're so we don't have to do any fascia trimming, which is really nice. more

Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2019 Ford F-150- Video
Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster direct-connect base plate kit, our 2019 Ford F150. Now the reason why you're going to want a base plate is because you want to flat tow your F150 because let's face it, when we go on a trip with our motorhome, it's a lot nicer to drive our truck around so we can go out to eat, run to the gas station, run a few errands, and not have to take our motor home with us.And our base plate is going to give us that solid connection point so we can hook our tow bar up to. But it's also going to alleviate a lot of that strain and stress that's put on the front suspension, because it's going to spread out that towing force across the front of our truck. And then since our base plate is going to be hooked directly to the frame, it's going to have a really solid point so we can safely tow our F150 down the road.The way they're basically sitting now is we don't have our removable arms in. So you can see, it just has a really clean appearance whenever we're not towing. But when we do want to tow, We'll grab the removable arm, we'll see it's got a pull pin on it. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Ford F-150 bx2671- Video
Speaker 1: Today on this 2016 Ford F150, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate kit with removable arms, Part Number BX2671.Here's what our base plat looks like installed. As you can see, when it's not in use it doesn't take up much space underneath the front of our vehicle. The attachment tabs for our safety chains or safety cables don't stick out past our front bumper. So we don't have to worry about running our leg into it as we walk in front of our truck.When we're not being flat-towed behind our motor home, and we don't have our removable arms in place, we have these plugs to insert into our base plate to help keep any dirt and debris out, making it easy for us to install our arms when we need them. One great thing about this base plate, is not only is it compatible with most Blue Ox tow bars, but if you purchase an adapter, you can even use it with some RoadMaster tow bars.Now, when we want to flat-tow our F150 behind our motor home, we can take our removable arm, make sure our tab is horizontal, push it in, rotate, and then our spring-loaded pen will secure it into place. Now, when we have arrived at our destination and we've unhooked from our motor home, to remove our arms, we simply pull the pen, rotate 90 degrees and pull out.What I really like about this base plate, unlike some other options on the market, is that this is a very quick and easy install, which requires very little modification to the vehicle. more

Here is what our base plate is going to look like installed. You see it's a two piece kit, so we've got one portion here, one portion here. It really stays nice and hidden. We did also add on our braking system components and our lighting components. You can see there is a nice area there on the grill for that. Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit Installation - 2014 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2014 Ford F-150, we'll be installing the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number 4431-3. Here's what the base plate looks like installed. As you can see, it's a nice recessed look, goes right where the factory tow hooks are. If your truck doesn't have factory tow hooks, it still goes in the same location. You just have to do a little trimming of the bumper cover for the brackets to go into place. This base plate kit works on all models of F-150s and other EcoBoost models that don't have factory tow hooks. It sticks right underneath the licence plate here. more
