Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe- Video

Hi everyone, Charles here at etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at the Saris MHS modular bike rack for two bikes for two inch hitches on the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. So this is a modular platform style bike rack. It's gonna be perfect for your heavy bikes and your electric bikes. This is made out of a steel and aluminum construction that's gonna keep it very durable and finished with a black powder coat keeping it rust resistant. One of the great features about this rack is that it does have a tilt away function making it easier for you to open your hatch without having to remove the bikes. Today our handlebars are a little bit too long but I'm gonna show you how to tilt it away. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hey everyone, I'm Charles with etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at the Saris MHS modular bike rack for two bikes for two inch hitches on the 2017 Toyota RAV4. So, this is a platform style rack made out of a steel and aluminum construction with a black powder coat finish, making it rust resistant and very durable. So, one of the cool things about this rack system is that it does have a tilt away function. It's right here on the handle. Something to keep in mind as this does carry heavy bikes, that you are gonna have the weight of those two bikes when you are tilting away and lifting back up. So, something I like to do is just keep one hand here or on the closest bike, take a step back, so that I don't get knocked out before my ride. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video

Hi everyone, John here, and today we're taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is gonna be a great way to have a tire hold platform style bike rack that can get your heavier bikes out to the trails and on the road that's gonna encapsulate a lot of your heavier mountain bikes and your e-bikes so you won't have to worry about as much. Now let's say you don't have as heavy of bikes and you have carbon frame or odd framed bikes. You luckily have a way of holding it by the tires, not only by the arms, but also we have these straps down here just for some extra stability. But overall, that's a really good setup. The front and rear wheel mounts make it great for carrying your carbon frame style bike since it's not gonna have any frame contact. But one of my favorite features is that it does tilt away, like so, giving you access to your bed of your truck. You can see we have plenty of clearance to grab our backpacks and our waters whatever you need for the trail. And I just really like that because carrying heavy bikes on the back of your vehicle, you may not always wanna unload it and load it whenever you have to get back into your bed. Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Nissan Rogue- Video

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro Hanging-Style Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Nissan Rogue. Now, with this being a hanging-style bike rack, that does mean the bike is going to hang by the frame. You've got these dual arms with four sets of cradles, so capable of carrying up to four bikes, and having three points of contact on that frame. Two straps over the top that hold it down into these deep cradles, and the third one on the seat post here, acting as an anti-sway cradle, which does (indistinct) our side to side movement, helping with bike to bike contact and preventing the bike from running into our vehicle. A lot of different bike racks that we've tested today had clearance issues with the Nissan Rogue. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Nissan Rogue- Video

Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2 platform style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Nissan Rogue. Now this is going to be kind of a mid-range bike rack, but able to work with a wide range of bikes. With this being a platform style rack the bike is going to sit on top of the rack in these wheel cradles, and this particular one holds the bike in place primarily by our front wheel hook right here. That's gonna be the thing that holds the bike upright and keeps it still for the most part, and it does a pretty good job at getting a strong hold on the bike. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Honda Odyssey- Video

Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Swagman Skaha 2 bike rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Honda Odyssey. So the Swagman Skaha is a good rack if you have those heavy electric bikes, and with the Odyssey, I recommend getting the separate ramp and bridge attachment. There is a good amount of ground clearance with this vehicle, so it's hard to lift those bikes high up and into the hitch receiver or hitch-mounted bike rack, but the ramp and bridge actually works really well with this rack, and I would recommend checking that out if you have a heavy electric bike, but this also has some other features, like it tilts away and you have a front wheel mount, which makes it easier to load those bikes up. So the first feature we'll take a look at is that tilt away feature. There is this bright green lever here in the back. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Ram 1500- Video

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty SwingAway bike rack and seeing how it fits on our 2020 RAM 1500. The SwingAway is going to be a great option for any sort of truck because with the tailgate this allows you to swing the whole rack away with bikes loaded and have full access to your truck bed so you can open up the tailgate without any clearance issues, sit down before or after your ride or just have access to the bed if you need it, and you can leave your bike rack in the hitch and not have to think about it. The AfterParty is gonna be a great option for a wide variety of bikes as well. It makes no frame contact using this dual wheel mount design here, so it's good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. And with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike it can handle e-bikes too which is impressive considering the SwingAway feature here. more

So Yakima OnRamp is pretty popular because it's designed for electric bikes with the ramp installed on the rack. That way if you're forgetful like me you don't have to have to remember to keep it in your car because you know it's on the rack, ready to go. Now even though it does have that great weight capacity and the ramp, there are some downsides too like how tricky it is to get the bikes loaded up. Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Ford Edge- Video

Hi everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at our Kuat Sherpa on our 2022 Ford Edge. Our bike rack here is going to be a platform style bike rack weighted at 40 pounds for each bike and is going to be contactless frame support, meaning that's going to be great for our carbon frame bikes and our alternative frame bikes as well. In order to engage our tilt away function, we're just gonna go ahead and lift up a little bit on that, allowing us to disengage our lever here, and then just tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle which is going to allow us access into our trunk. Now it's not really enough room to sit down and maybe change my shoes, but it does allow me access into the trunk itself to maybe pick up my shoes or pick up my helmet or my lunch. Now, in order to get our bike frame back up, we're just gonna go ahead and grab it, lift up until we hear that click sound and that means it's back into place. more

Swagman Current 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2023 Tesla Model 3- Video

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Swagman CURRENT two-bike platform style bike rack four e-bikes on a 2023 Tesla Model 3. Now this bike rack is gonna be a great option whether you have an inch and a quarter inch hitch or a two inch hitch, because it comes with the availability to be able to be used in both configurations. Now being that this is rated for e-bikes that means that generally your e-bikes are gonna be a little bit heavier, but this one's rated at 60 pounds per bike and you have two bikes. So with the weight of that plus two bikes loaded up as long as you're adhering to that weight it should be fine even on a class one hitch. So, and you can have your electric bikes right behind your electric car, and the name CURRENT kind of goes with that as well. And platform style bike racks, I'm a big fan of compared to your hanging style just because it's way more secure and you have three points of contact here that keep that in place. more

This is gonna be a platform style bike rack. This one holds the bike in these two wheel cradles and uses a dual wheel mount design. In this case, it means we have two wheel hooks ratcheting down over the top of each tire, really anywhere along the tire that it makes good contact and having secondary points of contact on each of those cradles in the form of wheel straps. And the result is actually a really firm hold although there is a little bit of movement here at the pivot point of the bike rack. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Ford Maverick- Video

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman XTC2 TILT and seeing how it fits in the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now, the XTC is a platform-style bike rack, holding the bike in these wheel hoops on either side and by our frame, utilizing a frame clamp or a hook in the center. Now, because of the frame hook, in any sort of frame contact, we do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes. And because it uses a hook rather than a cradle with a strap, it's not gonna be the best fit for alternative frame bikes, because those downward sloping frames, you're not gonna be able to get a good grab on it with these hooks. Something like a bike adapter bar is going to be needed to ensure a proper fit, and you can find those here at etrailer, just making sure that if you've got one of those bikes, you have that in mind, and maybe look into a different style of bike rack. more

CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe- Video

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe. This is gonna be a hanging-style bike rack, and what that means is the bike hangs by the frame. Two attachment points up top with straps holding it down on the cradles and a third one on the seat post, keeping our sway down to a minimum. It doesn't entirely eliminate it, especially these rubber straps, they've got a bit of stretch to them, so it doesn't completely fix the problem, but it will help with bike to bike contact as you're going down the road. Hanging-style bike racks inherently are gonna have a few more limitations to them, and this one is no different. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome- Video

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro hanging style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2019 Fleetwood Bounder motorhome. Now this is a bike rack capable of carrying up to four bikes, and it's going to be able to carry 35 pounds per bike. So pretty solid and pretty comparable to most other hanging style racks out there, especially the ones that are motorhome-approved. And that is an important distinction because not all bike racks are built to the spec required to withstand the extra shock and vibration you experience at the back of a motorhome compared to a passenger vehicle. So, do be sure to select a bike rack that's approved for use on a motorhome when you're putting it here. more

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Ford Edge- Video

What's up everybody Cooper here with Etrailer and today we're going to be taking a look at our Rocky Mounts MonoRail on our 2022 Ford Edge. Our bike rack here is going to be a platform style bike rack that can hold up to two bikes. They're gonna be individually weight rated at 60 pounds each. And then also it's going to be held frameless style, which is going to be really good for our carbon frame bikes, our alternative frame bikes, and our e-bikes as well. Swagman Skaha 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2020 Ford F-150- Video

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2 Hitch Bike Rack and how it fits on our 2020 Ford F-150. The Skaha 2 is gonna be a two bike platform style rack, capable of holding two bikes, up to 60 pounds apiece, and it's gonna be primarily with this wheel hook here, as well as one strap down here at the back, so there's no frame contact at all. We're gonna dust support 60 pound bikes, so you can get most of the bikes that you can think of on here whether that's mountain, road or up to e-bikes. Again, as long as they do fit in that 60 pound weight limit, because there is no frame contact. You can get carbon frame and alternative frame sound bikes on here too. more

The Skaha is definitely a biker rack designed for bikes of different shapes and sizes, especially your heavy electric bikes. You have that 60-pound weight capacity. You have your large wheel cradles for your extra wide tires, and if you get the additional, sold separately ramp and bridge, it makes it really easy to load and unload those bikes. We'll talk about that, but we're in the focus on our Equinox here because this compares to the Skaha Plus, the Skaha has a tilt-away feature. more

Saris MHS Modular 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Hey everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2023 Subaru Outback. And while at first it may look like you can mount your bike in on either side, there is actually a ratcheting system for your back strapped wheel as well as a wheel chock for your front wheel just to help it sit in there better. Now, one of the big advantages of this rack is that does come with a tilt away feature. So we just go ahead and pull the lever here at the bottom allows us to tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle, allowing us access into the truck. And there's enough clearance between the pedal and our trunk that I'm not really worried about it but this would allow me to grab my helmet, my shoes or either put them up when I'm done for the day. more

Swagman E-Spec Electric Bike Rack Review - 2022 Forest River Salem FSX Travel Trailer- Video

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman E-Spec hitch-mounted bike rack and seeing how it fits on our 2022 Forest River Salem FSX travel trailer. Now it's important to note that with this bike rack it is a hitch-mounted bike rack and our camper didn't come with the hitch right from the factory so you will need to find an option to mount that up. We're using the etrailer bumper mounted hitch that's going to be able to support the weight of this carrier and the rack is rated for travel trailer use. So it's just some things to keep in mind when you're finding the right bike rack for you and your travel trailer. The other thing to take note of here is your spare tire. more

Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack with Ramp Review - 2022 Nissan Frontier- Video

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp hitch bike rack and how it fits on a 2022 Nissan Frontier. The OnRamp is gonna be a two bike platform style bike rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 66 pounds if you use it on road but it's also rated for your travel trailer, fifth wheel, motor homes and flat towed vehicles. So it does have an off-road rating but that's gonna drop it down to about 40 pounds. So if you wanna use it for that purpose, keep that in mind. It's a really solid bike rack though with a lot of nice features. more

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Rocky Mounts Guide Rail Hitch Bike Rack and now it outfits on our 2022 Nissan Frontier. The Guide Rail is going to be a two bike platform style bike rack, capable of supporting two bikes up to 60 pounds a piece gonna hold onto them with this dual wheel mount design. So one of these hoops on either tire the front and the back so there's no frame contact at all. If you want to get your carbon frame bikes on here, you can. Alternative frame bikes will work as well up to e-bikes because of that weight capacity and there's no frame contact at all so none of those are gonna get damaged while you're moving. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Nissan Frontier- Video

Hey Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack's Destination Two Bike Hitch Rack and how it fits on our 2022 Nissan Frontier. It's gonna be a platform style bike rack capable of supporting your bikes up to 35 pounds a piece. It's gonna hold onto them primarily with these frame clamps here, as well as the strap on the back and the front tire. So it does make frame contact. If you wanna use this with your carbon frame bikes we'd recommend against it 'cause it could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. more

Swagman Skaha 2 Plus 4 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Nissan Frontier- Video

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Skaha 2 Plus hitch bike rack and how it fits on our 2022 Nissan Frontier. This is going to be the two bike with the two bike add-on so a four bike platform rack total with the ability to hold onto two 60 pound bikes in the back and two 30 pound bikes in the front. So definitely make sure that you're using those weight ratings accordingly. We can hold our e-bikes, heavier bikes with larger wheel bases in the back. Again, we're gonna lose a little bit of that weight capacity up front. more
