The way we're gonna mount them is through the hitch pin hole here on the side, and it is gonna accept a standard 5A pin and clip. The nice thing about that is that we're not going to have that cross tube hanging down below the bumper, so it's going to give us a little bit better peace of mind when we're backing out of the driveway or going over a speed bump. Our hitch is going to offer us a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, so we're going to have a really wide variety of options for accessories that we can mount up. The way that we're going to mount all of our accessories is the hitch fit hole here. The one closest to the front of the vehicle and it is going to accept the standard 5/8 pin and clip. Here's what our hitch looks like once we have it installed on our RAV4. The cross tube is going to hang just below the bumper, and it is going to be visible, but it is set back a little bit and not that noticeable, but what I really like about our etrailer hitch here is the finish. It's going to have that flat black carbide finish opposed to the high gloss finish that's on a lot of hitches. So, it blends in really nicely at the bottom and it is less noticeable. It's a class III hitch, which means it's going to give us a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening, and give us a lot of different options of any kind of accessory that we want to mount up. Now, the way we're going to mount any of those accessories is to the hitch pin hole here in the side, and it is going to accept a standard 5/8 pin and clip, and while these aren't included in the kit, you can pick them up here at etrailer.com along with locking devices to keep your accessories secure. Now, our safety chain connection points are going to be a loop style welded to the bottom of the receiver tube, and as you can see, we're not going to have too much trouble getting most sized hooks on or off, and have plenty of room to make sure they don't interfere with our hitch pin or locking device. more

They're both going to be similar in most aspects, but there are a few subtle differences between them. When it comes to appearance, that's going to go to our Curt, because of its reinforced collar. When it comes to clearances, that's also going to go to our Curt, because it has slightly higher ground clearance, which may eliminate that need for that raised shank on your accessory. When it comes to the ease of installation, it's going to be tied between the two, as they both have exactly the same procedures. more

Best 2019 Toyota Prius Trailer Hitch Options

Speaker 1: Today on our 2019 Toyota Prius, we'll be having a look at our best trailer hitch options. We have two hitches here today that fit the Prius. On the top we have a Draw-Tite Class 1 trailer hitch receiver, and then on the bottom we have a CURT Class 1 trailer hitch receiver. First we'll give you a brief summary about the differences between our hitches. In regards to appearance, we found that the CURT hitch here, with our personal opinion, is the better looking hitch here, so we'll give that one a win. As far as recreational use goes, we found that the Draw-Tite hitch has a slight advantage over the CURT hitch because there is no recommendation for use of a safety strap if you're using it for a non-trailer application. Now in my personal opinion, if I personally owned a Prius, I'd be leaning towards the CURT hitch myself because I feel that it looks the best on the vehicle. The color gives it a nice finished look and doesn't take away from any of the attractive, stylish lines on the back of the vehicle. The first difference that we found between our two hitches is in regards to appearance. more

Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Toyota Venza- Video

Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Toyota Venza

Speaker 1: Today our 2009 Toyota Venza, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the draw tite clasp to custom fit trailer hitch receiver, part number 36512.So, here's what our hitch is gonna look like, that cross tube is gonna sit right below our bumper, and it is going to be visible. It's gonna offer us an inch and a quarter by an inch and a quarter receiver tube opening, because it is a class 2 hitch, which means it's going to be great for all sorts of accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers. The way we're going to mount any of our accessories is through the hitch pin hole here on the side, and it is gonna accept a standard half inch pin and clip, while they're not included in the kit, you can pick them up here at etrailer.com.Our safety chain connection points are gonna be a plate style, welded to the bottom and as you can see, it's gonna have a rather large opening, not gonna have too much trouble getting most size clips on or off, we're not gonna have to worry about it interfering with our hitch pin or our locking device if we put one on.The hitch is gonna have a 300lb ton weight, which is gonna be the maximum downward force at the receiver tube. It's also gonna have a 3500lb gross trailer weight rating, which is the amount it can pull, including the trailer and everything we have loaded on it.Now if you do plan on doing some light duty towing, there is a specific draw bar made for our hitch here, and you can find that here at etrailer.com.With those numbers in mind, you want to double check your Venza's owners manual, and never exceed the manufacturers recommended towing weight.Let's give you a few measurements, that's gonna help you when deciding for accessories for a new hitch, such as the bike rack or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is gonna be right about four inches. That measurements gonna come in handy when you're looking at folding accessories to make sure you have enough clearance so it doesn't come in contact with the rear bumper. From the ground to the inside top edge of the receiver top opening is gonna be right around 13 1/2 inches. At that height, I would definitely recommend a bike or a cargo carrier with a raised shank, that way we could just get that little bit more extra ground clearance. So now that we've seen what our hitch looks like and gone over some of the features, let's show you how to get it installed. To begin our installation, we're gonna want to come to the very back of the vehicle and just a little bit forward of where the exhaust is, we're gonna have this bracket, with attached to the bottom as well as on top of the frame here. \So I wanna remove the nut that's holding it in place on the bottom, we'll be needing a 14mm socket. Now we're gonna wanna be holding on to this nut for re-installation later. For the bolt on top of the frame, we'll be using a 17mm socket to pull it out. We'll go ahead and pull the bracket down. Now the bolt won't be getting reused, but we wanna make sure we have the correct orientation on our bracket, so the easiest way to remember is this large hole is gonna be going towards the bottom. So we're gonna go ahead and pull out the other side as well. Now on each side of the frame, we're gonna have three weld nuts that are gonna be on the bottom, now typically these are covered up with stickers or some kind of plug on them, I've reused these, ours aren't there, so they have been exposed to the elements. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Toyota RAV4 - Draw-Tite

Speaker 1: Today in this 2012 Toyota RAV4 we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class III trailer hitch receiver, part number 75235.Here's what the hitch looks like installed. One of the first things you'll notice about this hitch is that we have a lot clearance around the receiver, which makes this a great hitch to use with bike racks and cargo carriers, which is what we found that many of our customers are purchasing hitches for, for the RAV4.On the side of our receiver you'll find two pin holes. The larger diameter one here, that's our industry standard 5/8th of an inch diameter hitch pin hole to secure your hitch mount accessories. You can pick up a pin and clip separately on our website as part number PC3. Closest to the rear, this smaller hole is for our J-Pin stabilization device. And what that does is take away some inaudible 00:00:45 shape play and rattle inaudible 00:00:47 what is inserted in your receiver. more
