Speaker 1: Today our 2017 Chevrolet Cruze we're going to be taking a look at, and I'm going to show you how I installed the Roadmaster Battery Charge-line kit for towed vehicles. Part number RM-156-25.What this charge line's going do for you it's going to allow you to charge your battery in your vehicle while it's being flat-towed.How it does that is when you hook your 6-pole to 7-pole hookup, your umbilical cord between your RV and your car. That power is going to be drawn from your RV battery while you're traveling. It's going to travel through the wire and keep your battery charged so that when you get to your destination you unhook your car, your vehicle is ready to go.It's going to be one of five main components in the flat-two set up. The other components are going to be your safety cables, your wiring, your braking system, and you tow-bar.As far as the installation on your battery charge line it is very, very simple. It comes with one single red wire, couple of ring terminals, and that's it.Now, how we got it installed, this is going to be your super-breaker here, one side, the copper side, is going to say battery. more

Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500- Video

Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Speaker 1: So today on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 we're going to be taking a look at the Demco 5th wheel rail adapter for Chevy and GMC OEM 5th wheel towing prep package, part# DM6194. Here's what our Demco 5th wheel's going to look like once we have it installed. It's going to provide us with above-the-bed rails so we can use a standard 5th wheel. It's going to lock into our OEM prep package so we can use a standard 5th wheel instead of having to buy a separate one to work with the prep package. Now the really nice thing about this is it is going to be one solid piece. We're not going to have to assemble anything, and it's going to have really solid welds all the way around so it's going to be really strong. The only thing we're going to have to do is put in a single wing nut. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Colorado we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster seven wire to six wire flexo coil kit, part number RM-146-7. We have our cable router along our tow bar here. As you can see the coiledness of it is going to keep it nice and taut. We won't have to worry about it dragging the ground, but it is extendable up to past eight feet, so we're going to have plenty of room to make our connections. So we'll dust cover off of the back, and we're going to slide the wires through it. Let's go ahead and push it back so we have plenty of room to work with. Now, if we look at the back our plug here, each one of these terminals is going to be labeled. more

Part number is RM-766.Now an automatic battery disconnect such as this is going to be the ideal solution for the vehicles that tend to slowly drain their battery down while we're flat-towing them. Most cases, you'll need to leave the key on so the wheel can turn, and there's some kind of power draw while it's in tow mode, and when we get to our destination, the battery's dead. The auto battery disconnect allows us to have a switch inside so we can turn off the battery connection. To do that, you'll see there's two battery cables that come off. We basically just separate the connection at the positive side. more

This will save you time and energy from having to open the hood and manually remove your battery terminal. This will do it automatically via a solenoid built into this disconnect via a simple press of a switch inside the vehicle. Speaker 1: Today, in this 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25.Here's what our battery charge line kit looks like installed. The reason you're going to want a battery charge line kit is, if you're using a supplemental braking system when you're flat towing your vehicle, it's going to draw power from your vehicle, thus discharging your battery. By having this charge line kit, it'll maintain a charge on your battery as you're driving down the road so, when you arrive at your destination, you're not surprised with a dead battery. You'll be able to start your car up and go explore. This kit works with a simple circuit breaker so you don't have to worry about any overloads damaging any wiring in your vehicle or overcharging your battery. This will provide a charge via your motorhome's constant 12-volt hot source on its seven-way connector. You can simply hook it up to the six-way connector on the front of your vehicle and charge through that. more

When the key's in the on position, all of your accessories are on. There's no way to shut them off inside the vehicle, which in turn could drain your battery. The battery disconnect is going to break that power between the battery and all your accessories shutting your accessories off, in turn saving your battery life. Now, the way this works is this button right here, when we push it you're going to hear a click and it's going to shut off all of your interior. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Express Van- Video

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Express Van

Speaker 1: Today in this 2010 Chevrolet Express Van we will be having a look at, and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller part number TK90160.To ease your install we'll be using universal seven way trailer brake controller kit, part number ETBC7.Here's what our brake controller looks like installed. Now what's great about this brake controller, is that this is a proportional brake controller, which allows us to slow down smoothly, and safely when we're towing a trailer, and our brakes are being applied instantly versus with a timed delay brake controller, it's also not gonna give you a jerky ride like a time delayed brake controller would. Now the reason you're gonna want a brake controller such as this one is if you're towing a trailer that has electric brakes, you won't be able to control them without having a brake controller. Now what sets this brake controller apart from other proportional units on the market is not only is this a very high quality unit, but it's also a very simple one to use without a lot of overly complex features. This gives you the basic functions that you need in order to safely, and easily utilize trailer brakes. To our right we have our manual override, and what this does, this will apply our trailer brakes to the maximum level that we have set the further we press it in.The reason you want a manual override is because if your trailer starts to sway behind you, or starts to jackknife, you would want to slow the trailer down, not your vehicle, that'll make things worse. So by applying this, only the brakes on the trailer will be applied without you applying your vehicle's brakes.Over here to the left this is our gain adjustment knob. This knob here controls how much power is being sent to your trailer brakes. Right now if it's set all the way up you see our display reads at 11, and we start to roll it back it'll start to drop back down all the way down to zero, which means no trailer brakes being applied.General rule of thumb, you want to start it somewhere in the middle, so about five and a half will be ideal. more

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2000 Chevrolet Express Van- Video

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2000 Chevrolet Express Van

Speaker 1: Today on this 2000 Chevrolet Express van, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar and axle bracket kit, part number RM-1109-175-00, in conjunction with the Roadmaster axle mounting bracket kit for Chevrolet Express van chasses, part number RM-590061-00.Here's what our sway bar looks like installed. There are many reasons you're going to want an aftermarket sway bar on your motor home. One is if your vehicle doesn't already have a sway bar on the back of it, such as this one, this is going to greatly reduce the amount of side-to-side sway in the back. So when we're driving down the road, by having our sway bar in place, if a semi we're to pass us, we won't be steering trying to keep our vehicle to go straight. This will allow us to keep the steering wheel more centered as we're driving in a straight line. Also, when we're going around the corners, we won't be having to counter-steer quite as much when we're leaving the corners because we're not having the body roll that we're used to having without having the sway bar in place. So for example, if we're turning left, we'll have more weight transfer to our right side and that'll cause the right end to dip down and the left side to pick up. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado- Video

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, we're going to be showing you how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number is RM-156-25.Now this charge line kit is really important on these GM vehicles with the steering wheel lock situation, you have to leave your key on. Even though you turn off the fan, you turn off the air, you turn off the radio, it still drains the battery. This allows us to take power from our red wire that we've got connected to the 12 volt power source on the back of our RV, that goes through a breaker and we've got it connected right here to our positive battery cable. This gives us a trickle charge effect. As we're driving down the road, the battery's constantly getting a little bit of a charge and a little bit of a charge to keep it up and maintained. The breaker is in place to help prevent any kind of overloading. If you're vehicle, maybe you've left the radio on or you've left the fan blowing, it's going to be drawing power from your battery of course. That excess draw will cause this breaker to heat up slightly and disconnect power temporarily until that system cools back down and it'll make contact again, so it's a very safe and very effective way to charge your battery while you're flat towing. The first step in the installation is going to be to get our breaker mounted. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be installing Roadmaster's battery charge line kit for towed vehicles. Part RM-156-25.This charge line kit will provide a trickle charge from your RV to your vehicle's battery. This way when you're flat towing your vehicle down the road, every time you stop and you use the battery from your vehicle to apply to brake pedal from your braking system, or if you're using your vehicle's taillights as your taillight system, you can keep your battery charged so it's ready to go when you get to your campsite or wherever your destination may be.This kit connected directly to your six pull 00:00:36 connector at the front of your vehicle, and has a circuit breaker in line to protect for any shorts. When you plug it into your RV, that's where it gets its charging from. We'll begin our installation by mounting our circuit breaker using the self-tapping screw provided in the kit. Use an eight millimeter socket, and we're going to put it right here in the front, in this little open spot. Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Malibu

Speaker 1: Today on this 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25.Here's what our charge line kit looks like installed. This solves the problem that people encounter when they are flat-tailing their vehicle behind their motor home. The reason you need this is because when your vehicle has a supplemental braking system, its drawing its power from the vehicle's battery and not from the motor home. This will maintain the charge on your battery, so your supplemental braking system won't drain your battery and whenever you get to your destination, you will be able to start your vehicle up without any problems. Many of our customers have found this to be a great solution because several of them have found their battery's be dead and not able to start their vehicle after they've been towing for an extended period of time. This solved that issue for them and will solve the issue for you as well, so you don't have to worry about it.For this particular flat tow setup, we're using a Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit with removable arms, a Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with bulbs, a Roadmaster Seven to Six Wire Straight Cord, a Roadmaster Fusemaster Fuse Bypass, a Roadmaster Charge Line Kit, Roadmaster Coil Safety Cables, a Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Nonbinding Tow Bar and a Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit. Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be showing you how to install the Roadmaster battery disconnect switch for towed vehicle with supplemental braking system. Part number is RM-766.Now the need for an auto battery disconnect on the Silverado comes from the tendency for the battery to drain while we're flat towing the truck. This gives us a very quick and easy solution to go from tow mode, which is going to separate the connection in our positive battery cable, de-powering the entire truck, right into drive mode where we re-establish that connection. So we no longer are going to have to worry about trying to remove the battery cable or having one of those big switches underneath the hood that we constantly have to remember to switch back and forth. When we're ready to tow, we'll hit tow. When we're done flat towing and we're ready to start driving our vehicle, simply switch it into drive. Now to mount our battery disconnect, we want to keep it down somewhere kind of out of the way so we're not going to be bumping into it as we're working on our truck or something like that.We we're going to be going right underneath the coolant overflow tank here. Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 we'll be having a look at and installing the Demco Underbed Rail and Installation Kit from Demco Hijacker UMS 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches, part number DM8551008. All right, here's what our Demco Underbed System looks like installed. As you can see, it doesn't take up any of our valuable bed space. It's completely recessed underneath the bed of our truck, and when we're ready to put in a 5th wheel or a 5th wheel slider it'll just drop in to our puck system. This almost converts our truck to almost like a factory 5th wheel or gooseneck prep package, where they have the pucks underneath the truck. Now, when we're not towing it does come with these plugs that you can snap down into place to keep any dirt and debris from entering down into the rails, making it difficult for your slider or 5th wheel to go into place. When you're ready to tow, they lift out real easily. more

RoadMaster BrakeMaster Seat Adapter Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche

Today on our 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche we're going to be showing you how to install the RoadMaster BrakeMaster Custom Seat Adapter. Its part number is RM-88158. The quick attachment point on the bracket is going to allow us to quickly and easily remove the brake actuator when not in use. This bracket stays mounted underneath our seat post so there's no need to make any adjustments or modifications once your initial install process is done. That's going to slide in position and we'll line up the two holes, one here and one there with the studs that come up out of the seat. Now, the nuts that are on the studs are a little unique looking. We've found that just a standard 5.15 millimeter will allow you to get on there and get them removed. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Spark

Today in our 2017 Chevrolet Spark, we'll be installing the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. This Roadmaster Towed Vehicle Charge Line kit coupled with our towed vehicle lighting system connected here will allow our battery to be charged on our vehicle when it's flat-towed behind our RV. Because of this vehicle, in order to flat-tow it, you need to have the key in the accessory position so the steering wheel's on unlocked. This will prevent the battery from being run down while you're flat-towing. That way when you arrive at your destination, and you want to drive your vehicle around town, you can still do that because your car will start right up. To begin our install, we already have our charge line wire here, this red wire, ran through our fascia with our four pole flat wiring here that we're using for our towed vehicle lighting system. more

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at, and installing the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicles With a Supplemented Braking System, part number RM-766. Here's what it looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. It's going to be this nice, easy to operate switch that's inside the cap of the vehicle. What this kit is going to do is, for vehicles that need to have the battery disconnected when in tow mode, this is going to make it really easy to do that because it's going to be as easy as a flip of a switch. What's nice about this battery disconnect over some of the more traditional ones is that this one doesn't require you popping the hood and going underneath the hood to disconnect the battery with the quick disconnect, but rather, it's as simple as hitting that switch, and you're disconnected. Then, when you're ready to take it out of tow mode, it's a simple as flipping the switch the other direction, and then your battery's reconnected. Here's the solenoid for the quick disconnect. more

Today, on our 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to be taking a look at, and installing, the Road Master Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain combo towing kit with straight wiring, part number RM-9243-1. This entire kit is going to give us most of what we need in order to get our vehicle set up and ready for flat towing. We've got our 7 pole wire, that's going to come down to the 6 that's going to be attached on the front of our vehicle. We've got our bracket, here, that's going to allow us to mount our 6 pole outlet on the front of our vehicle. We've got a couple padlocks that are going to allow us to make sure that everything is locked in and secure, nobody's going to be able to take the vehicle and detach it from the motor home. We've got the safety cables, and on one end we'll be able to put these 2 quick links that come with the kit. We've got the diodes that are going to separate the signal coming from the motor home, or the signal coming from the vehicle, so that you can't potentially have a problem with the 2 overlapping, so it separates them and then sends them out the same location to the taillights. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. One reason you may need this kit is if you plan on using a portable breaking system in your towed vehicle, because those will draw power and they need some sort of power source. That way if that's drawing power you won't need to worry about your battery being drained because you've got a charge wire on here to make sure that your battery stays at full power. Here's what it's going to look like once it's installed in the vehicle. We've got the charge wire running to that very center pin on our 6-round connector here to the circuit breaker underneath the hood, and then it goes out the other side of the circuit breaker and routes towards the jump post for the battery. Then underneath this fuse box here at the jump post, you can see that it's got a ring terminal that connects it there in order to give power to the battery when this vehicle's in tow mode. Now with the vehicle hooked up to the motor home, even with our ring terminal disconnected from the jump start terminal there, if we test it for power you can see we've got power coming through there even when it's not. more

We just turn our key, remove it and our batteries are shut off. These are a perfect application for when you want to flat tow your 2016 Chevy Silverado. First thing we need to do is disconnect our negative battery terminals on both of our batteries here. With our battery cable disconnected her, I'll go ahead and set it aside and go disconnect the other battery. more

Now, we'll go ahead and add approximately 2000 pounds of weight to the rear of our truck. We'll go ahead and measure from the bottom of the wheel well down to the ground again, and we're at about 44-1/2" meaning we lost right at 2" of ride height. Now on this application the vehicle has a four-flat connector already previously run for the towed vehicle. We're going to go ahead and cut the zip tie that's holding it so that we can mount the new Roadmaster six-round pin connector. To secure the connector to the vehicle we're going to use the Hopkins six-round bracket. Now to mount our bracket we're going to attach it here directly to the fascia. I'm just going to use some self-tapping screws and I can run them in and secure the bracket in place. In conjunction with our universal installation kit, we're also going to be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller, part number 90195. On our particular vehicle today that we're working with, it does have a stake bed or an aftermarket style bed installed on the vehicle, so a few things underneath may look just a little bit different. The kit does already come with some yellow butt connectors connected to the blue and black wire as well as the purple wire, but this particular customer has requested that we use some heat shrink style butt connectors wherever we use a butt connector. The butt connectors that we're going to be using are part number DW05745-5. These two wires right here, this black and the blue wire, we're going to go ahead and trim off the butt connector that comes with it. The blue wire is the wire that sends brake signal from the brake controller back. The black wire is your 12-volt hot or the 12-volt accessory wire. This purple wire that already has the connector on it, it is for the reverse light circuit, and on this particular application, we're not going to use that, so we're not even going to cut the butt connector off. more

We will first begin by picking a location where we're going to mount our 7-way trailer plug. In this case because the trailer hitch comes out so far, we're going to go ahead and drill two small holes in the underside of the bumper to mount our bracket. Once we have the holes drilled, we'll go ahead and use the supplied screws and nuts to attach the bracket to the lower bumper. Next we'll go ahead and take some of the wire looms supplied with the kit and put it over the wires coming out of the back of the 7-way. Then we'll go ahead and feed the 7-way onto the bracket and attach it with the supplied screws and nuts. Next, we're going to go ahead and make the 4-way connection with the 4-way that's already on the vehicle and because this vehicle already had a 4-way on it, we've already gone ahead and tested it to make sure that everything is working properly. This one here will allows you to remove the brake controller when you're not using it, but because it is out of plastic it is not quite as durable as our metal one here. Now this particular vehicle here is a work truck so we're going to go ahead and install the metal bracket to give us a little better chances of the brake controller staying connected onto the lower dash where we'll be putting it.
