Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo

Question:

Im looking at adding a trailer hitch and bike rack to a 2002 VW Beetle Turbo not an S model and will be taking the bikes on an 800 mile trip first time out. I see you have 2 different hitches for my vehicle, item 60902 and item 24679 by Draw-Tite. Could you comment on any particular differences between the two hitches? As for a hitch mounted rack, I have 2 bikes to carry, one a road bike with a conventional frame and another with a slightly angled frame with a 6 inch from the fork to the seat tube hybrid road/mountain bike. Is there a carrier you would recommend for these types of bikes? thanks,

The only real difference between the two hitches you referenced is that the Draw Tite # 24679 does not come with a ball mount. Part # 60902 is no longer available.

Since all you need a hitch for is to carry a bike rack the Draw Tite would be a better option.

The bike rack I would recommend is the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670. This rack will carry your two bikes easily and since it is a platform rack the style of frame you have won't matter or require you to use any type of adapter. This rack has a ton of positive reviews from our customers who own it. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
