Troubleshooting New LED Left Turn Signal Light That Stays On

Question:

I installed a brand new left side turn signal on model 44 in the trailer and it stays on custom power and I switch to turn signals from Right to left right signal does not stay on. Then I put the left one in the right side and then it stayed on still. Can a led light have internal short to power.

It is possible that your new LED-type left turn signal light could have an internal short or other damage that is causing the light to stay on rather than blink. It may also be that the wiring in the trailer was not connected correctly to the leads on the light. If the running light wire were connected to the turn signal lead this could explain why the light stays on rather than blinks.

The light you referenced, Optronics # STL8RB, has three wire leads: a white ground wire, a brown running light wire and a green right turn light wire.

You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the wiring on the trailer to make sure of the function carried on each before making your connections.
