Increasing Clearance While Towing Gooseneck or Fifth Wheel Trailer with 2014 GMC Sierra Short Bed
Question:
I HAVE A 2014 GMC SIERRA SHORT BOX 6foot 6 PU, I RECENTLY BOUGHT A FIFTH WHEEL AND A BandW TURN OVER BALL HITCH, THE DISTANCE FROM THE BACK OF THE CAB AND CENTER OF THE BALL IS 36 3/4 INCHES, WITH AN 8 INCH OFFSET STINGER (offset gooseneck ball) I STILL CANT GET THE 4 INCH REQUIREMENT FOR CAB CLEARANCE IN A TIGHT TURN, IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO TO GET THE CLEARANCE NEEDED?

Since you have a short bed truck, you may want to use the B&W Companion Slider hitch # BWRVK3400. This fifth-wheel trailer hitch, which also adapts your Turnoverball gooseneck hitch, incorporates a slider that gives you an extra 12" of fore/aft movement to ensure proper cab clearance when executing turns.
I have included a view review of this fifth wheel hitch for you to check out.
If you are pulling a gooseneck trailer you will need something like the B&W Extend-A-Goose Gooseneck Coupler, # BWTEXA4200. This heavy-duty coupler provides an extra 10" of clearance between your truck cab and trailer. This specific part won't give you the clearance you need, but it will give you an idea of the kind of coupler you will need. Check out the video review of this coupler at right.
