Recommended Battery Charger That Can Charge And Maintain Parallel Bank Of Batteries

Question:

Hello, I am looking for a battery charger to charge a group of 4 12V heavy duty automotive batteries that are wired in Parallel. At times these batteries are unused for up to a month or more at a time so I am looking for a charger that will keep the bank of 4 batteries charged without overcharging. Can you recommend on of your products for this application? Thank You

If you are needing a battery charger that uses a 110 v circuit to charge the batteries I recommend the CTEK MULTI US 25000 High-Capacity 12-Volt Battery Charger, part # CTEK56674. This will charge banks of batteries that have been connected in parallel. After the batteries have reached full-charge, this charger switches automatically to pulse-maintenance to maintain the charge. I have attached a drawing that shows how parallel batteries are attached to one another.

If you are using a 12 volt power source like an alternator for the battery charger I recommend is the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D.This charger would take care of the bank of 12 volt batteries you mentioned when they are connected in parallel. I have attached a drawing that shows how this charger connections can be made.

If your vehicle has a trailer connector with a 12 volt power source, you will need to be sure to disconnect that power wire, then install, or splice in, the wire from the 12 volt output source on the # 331-BCDC1225D charger. You can use 10 gauge wire, part # 10-1-1, to make the connection between the charger and the batteries.
