Tire Chain Comparison for Use on 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 3/4-Ton Diesel
Question:
What is the diameter of the link in this chain? What is more durable and has bigger links? This thule chain or this pewag chain PWXMR81V? I intend to use these on the rear wheels of a 3/4 ton diesel truck. Id like the best traction, with the best durability.

The tire size we show as standard on the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic is 245/70-17. For this tire size the Konig chains you referenced, K-Summit Diamond Pattern chains # TH02230K77, are a compatible fit. However, please note that the other chains referenced, the Pewag Brenta-C 4X4 Snow Tire Chains # PWXMR81V, are not a fit for 245/70-17 tires.
When it comes to tire chains the auto maker gets the final word on what is compatible and safe. My suggestion is to review your owner's manual first for any guidance or restrictions on the use of tire chains. Some vehicles can safely use only special low-profile S-Class chains (although your truck is not likely to have this limitation) but a check of your manual or with your local dealership is definitely a good starting point.
The link at right will show you all chains offered for the 245/70-17 tire size. You can use the filters in the left margin to narrow the results shown based on your requirements and preferences. For example you can choose between chains designed for on-road or off-road use, chains with manual, assisted or automatic tensioning, and with various types of construction.
If it were me I would choose the Pewag # PWE3210SC as they are heavy duty, has superior all square links, cams to assure a tight fit, and they are made in Colorado USA.
Please note that all tire chains require reduced driving speeds. If conditions are bad enough to need chains they are bad enough to slow down. Most chains have a 30-35 mph speed limit. You may want to refer to the linked articles for more information on tire chains as you review your owner's manual.
