Brake Controller and 7-Way Recommendation for a Subaru Outback 2013
Question:
Have a 2013 Subaru Outback with a factory installed hitch and four pin trailer harness. #1 Which brake controller is recommended for 2013 Outback and four to seven pin harness conversion kit? #2 The factory installed hitch is different from the video for the 2011. Dont think the On-Drill Long Bracket18136 will work in my case, what do you recommend. My hitch is covered by the rear bumper with only the receiver exposed.. #3 Want to wire for backup lights also assume the purple wiring in the grey wiring harness is for this purpose. How is this done? Thanks

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
Since you already have a factory 4-way all you need now is the part # ETBC7. This comes with everything needed to install a fully functional 7-way at the rear of your 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon as well as a brake controller. I attached an install video plus instructions for you to check out.
The # ETBC7 also comes with a mounting bracket for the 7-way so you wouldn't need to provide that separately. The reverse light circuit is activated by tapping into the reverse light circuit of the vehicle. For more specifics on that check out the installation instructions I attached.
