Is it Dangerous to Over Tighten Bolts on Equalizer and Shackle Bolts
Question:
will the trailer operate correctly or will be harmful

Expert Reply:
Equalizer bolts, like the Redline Wet Equalizer Bolt with locknut and grease zerk, # 126B2, should be torqued to yield. Equalizer bolts are not given a specific torque rating because they should allow some movement of the equalizer. If they are torqued down too tight, the equalizer will have difficulty moving and that could bind up your trailer's suspension.
Simply tighten the bolts down until they are tight, but still allow the equalizer to move.
I have provided an installation video of this equalizer bolts and a link to some information about trailer suspensions that may help you out.
