Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation For 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup Truck With 6 Ft 4 Inch Bed

Question:

I will be getting my first fifth wheel rv and am undecided on what hitch i want. Im told i need a slider hitch bc of the short bed, 64inch bed. Now i dont understand slider hitches so am possibly wanting an automatic slider hitch. What are some good ones to use for a 16k hitch. I will send a pic of the truckthe truck is a 2014, is 4 wheel drive and i dont think it has towing package. Has a hitch on the back under the bumper and the plugs for wiring run thru the bumper. Dont think it has a turnover ball n the bed or anything like that either

There are a couple of ways you can go with your 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 HD with the short bed when considering a 5th wheel hitch.

The sliding fifth wheel hitches we carry for your truck have a 12 inch fore/aft travel. For a 16,000 lb hitch I recommend part # C16521. This hitch has a 2-jaw locking system which means less chucking and rattling.

For a 20,000 lb hitch I recommend part # C16541, and if you need a 24,000 lb hitch I recommend part # C16546.

For an installation kit I recommend using the custom kit, part # C16427-204. This cuts the installation time in half versus using a Universal kit. No drilling is required for installation.

I have included a link to a fifth wheel installation on a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 you can check out.

You can choose to use a stationary fifth wheel hitch and replace the pin box on your trailer to a Sidewinder. You would need to know the make and model of the pin box on your trailer, and use the enclosed chart to select the Sidewinder that would work for your trailer. Or you could let me know what pin box you have and I will make some recommendations for you.

I have attached some helpful articles about fifth wheels and Sidewinders you can check out.
