Will Tire Chains Keep Tires From Spinning On Snow Covered Pavement

Question:

The question was only half answered. The other half was: Without chains the wheels on my 4x4, in 4 wheel low, just kept spinning on a snow covered ice road. Will these particular chains avoid that problem, or is another chain design more effective.

I am sorry, the second half of the question doesn't seem to have made it through in your original note. The Glacier V-Bar Snow Tire Chains, part # PWH2828SC you referenced are excellent in ice and snow. These chains will provide better traction than the cable style.

You need to be aware that you need to stay within the snow chain speed limit that is rated for your individual chain set, typically 30-40 mph. You need to check your owner's manual to see if there are any restrictions for your vehicle concerning tire chains.

I have attached a helpful article that explains tire chains and how they should be used on vehicles. There is also a chart that shows the tire chain requirements by state.
