Will a Reese 5th Wheel Hitch Fit Brophy Above the Bed Rails in a 2007 Dodge Ram

RV Hitches My current hitch: Pro Eagle Fifth Wheel Hitch by Brophy Hi-Valu Products Part # Description Mfg. # 28-700 Pro-Eagle 5th Wheel 15K - Quality S 28-701 Bed Rails and Bolt Kit for 18-700 22” front to back 20 3/4” wide. 28-701-H Universal Rail Kit UNIVERSAL 5TH WHEEL BASE RAIL KIT Pickup is 2007 ½ Dodge Ram with 6’ bed. Bed box is 20” deep. I am interested in Reese 16K 5TH WHEEL COMPLETE WITH ROUND TUBE SLIDER HEAD I’ve pulled this fifth wheel for 3 years and have touched the cab once. Would I benefit from the slider or when turning sharply, or will the pinbox hit the inside of the pickup bed first? My pinbox is a Dexter model AF925, 43” “Long” on a Jayco Eagle Superlite. Should this unit fit on my rails that I believe to be standard?

I took a look at the Brophy 5th wheel rails and they are industry standard so the Reese 16K hitch with round tube slider, # RP30075, will fit.

Given that you did have contact between the truck and trailer at least once, a slider would be the way to go. The pin box should not hit truck bed sides but the tailgate may get in the way with the slider slid back. You could remove the tailgate or use a 5th wheel tailgate.
