The bars are right at 31-1/2 inches long. The ball sits about 1 inch closer to the trailer, which would place the chain hanger brackets on the trailer frame about 32 to 32-1/2inches rearward of the trailer ball. If there's propane tanks or other obstructions that would prevent installation of the brackets at this spot, you could use a bolt-on bracket kit, part # RP58305. Because the bolt-on brackets aren't moveable, you'd install and remove the chains a bit differently.
You would hitch the vehicle to the trailer, and use the trailer jack to lift both the trailer tongue and the rear of the vehicle. This will give you enough slack in the chains to attach them to the hangers. Once the chains are in place, you lower the jack and you're good to go. Reverse the process to remove the chains.
