Do the Reese Slider Hitches in Tow Position Have the Same Cab Clearance as the Stationary Hitch
Question:
I am interested in getting a slider for my hitch. But Im just wondering about the king pin position in the towing position of the slider. My king pin right now on my standard hitch is ever so slightly ahead of the rear axle. But if I were to put the slider on, just by looking at some photos, it looks like the king pin will sit a few inches ahead of where it sits on my standard hitch. This would mean Im losing a few inches of clearance in the towing position while going down the road. There are still certain times where you may be in a busy spot and need those inches of clearance, and may not have a chance to jump out and move the slider back quick. But again this was just from looking at photos and I may be totally off on that observation. I have a Reese 15K hitch. Will my king pin position remain in the same spot it is in now? Or will it be moved ahead some with the slider hitch in the towing position?

Expert Reply:
The Reese Slider hitches in the tow position would have the same king pin orientation as the stationary hitches. If you were to install the # RP30048 on your Reese 15k hitch head you wouldn't lose any cab clearance while in the tow position.
