Brake Controller for a 2014 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I have a new Silverado...it came with the harness adapter that plugs into the the truck under the dash. There is a stock controller on ebay from a crashed 3500 that I would like to buy and install if it will work . it mounts in the dash left of the steering wheel. Will this work for me??

You would need to speak with a GM tech. I am not sure if models of the truck that did not come with the factory integrated brake controller have all of the wiring and programming to accept the factory controller. If it does then I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work.
But I would not dismiss an aftermarket controller. If you look up the performance of the factory integrated controllers you are likely to find quite a few people dissatisfied with it. This has been our experience. Many people buy aftermarket ones because they just work better.
If that is a route you want to explore the I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. It is also compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems. You could use it with harness # 3016 or with the factory harness you have but you will need to hardwire the controller to the factory harness by function.
On the aftermarket controllers, white is ground, black is 12 volt power to power the controller, blue is out put to the trailer brakes, and red is input from the brake switch. I have linked a video to the right that shows how a controller is installed using harness 3016.
