Gooseneck/5th Wheel Trailer Wiring for the Bed of a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Question:

Hopkins HM42137 has a 90 degree fitting Drawtite 20111 does not. From video it seems that the Hopkins has to have a ground wire run to frame, is this bad. Are there any other advantages/disadvantages to each that would make them better/worse for a 2006 Ram 3500 with GN hitch. Do you recommend and why?

I recommend going with a gooseneck wiring harness that has a 90 degree bend. The reason for this is because it makes installation easier because on some trucks there isn't a lot of space between the inner and outer bed side walls.

Having an extra ground wire is not a bad thing. It helps ensure that the harness has a good ground connection. With that said you can't really go wrong with Hopkins harness # HM42137. I have linked a video to the right that shows how it installs.

For a low-cost option that would also work for you but lacks the 90 degree bend, you can use Curt harness # C56071.
