Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Volkswagen Golf Wagon TDI
Question:
Hi, I want to install a trailer hitch for my 2013 VW Golf Wagon TDi, and I was wondering if there is a trailer hitch with more cargo capacity, I was looking at your products and you seem to only have a 2000Lbs and tongue weight of 200Lbs, is there any way that I can get something with more cargo capacity for my car? It is a Diesel engine and it has almost more torque that a SUV so I dont see why I could not tow more weight. Thank you.

All of the hitches available for you 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen are Class I hitches with 200 lbs tongue weight and 2,000 lbs total trailer weight capacity. There are no higher rated hitches available for your vehicle.
The strength of the engine on a vehicle is only one component considered when determining the overall towing capacity for a vehicle. Other thing that need to be considered are; suspension rating, braking power, strength of the vehicle's frame/body.
Although your diesel engine produces a great deal of torque the other components are unfortunately not rated high enough for higher towing capacities.
The hitch I would recommend for your 2013 VW Golf Wagon TDI would be the # 24866. I attached an install video for you to check out. For a ball mount you would want # 3593 and for a hitch ball you would want part # 19256 for 1-7/8 inch ball and # 19258 for 2 inch ball.
