Hitch Recommendation for a 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle
Question:
I want to put a trailer hitch on my 2002 VW Beetle and like the looks and apparent ease of install of your item # 24679. I will be towing a small 14 boat and was considering the ball mount # C45025 and maybe even # C40031 ball to further increase hitch height. My concern is reducing tongue weight with the longer ball mount. Can you make some recommendations for my application. I currently tow this small boat with my Ram 3500 and feel a little silly and think I can save some fuel using the Beetle. Thanks for any help/advice you can provide.

The Draw Tite hitch part # 24679 that you referenced is the correct hitch for your 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle so it would be the right choice. The thing about Class I hitches like this hitch is that you can only use the recommended ball mount for the hitch otherwise you void the warranty of the hitch.
Draw Tite says that you have to use the part # 3593 as a ball mount in the rise position so that is the only one I can recommend for you. For a hitch ball you could not use the part # C40031 to give you additional rise because it has too large of a diameter shank. You need one with a 3/4 inch shank like the part # 19256.
For trailer wiring you would need the part # 119178KIT.
