If you're trying to install a 7-way trailer connector on your 2008 Silverado, look up above the spare tire or on the driver's side frame rail. You should see a wiring harness with a round plug on the end of it. The plug will have a protective cap on it. Once you remove the cap, you should be able to plug the harness into the rear of a 7-way connector like the part # HM40975, which provides both a 4-pole and a 7-way trailer connector.
