Recommended Weight Distribution For 3500 Lb Travel Trailer Towed By 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I'll be towing a small travel trailer that weighs about 3500 lbs fully loaded. Tongue weight is about 400 lbs, and I'll be carrying about 150 lbs of gear in the cargo area of my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. What would you recommend for weight distribution?

Expert Reply:
Given the weight of the travel trailer and the tongue weights you mentioned, I'd recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System, part # RP66559. This system is effective on trailers with tongue weights from 500 to 1000 lbs, and in addition to proven weight control performance, it provides resistance against trailer sway caused by crosswinds or oncoming traffic.Given your approximate 550 lb tongue weight, this system would be perfect for your needs.
The weight distributing shank is included, but you'll need a trailer ball with a 1-1/4 inch diameter threaded shank. For a 2 inch ball, use part # A-90. For a 2-5/16 inch ball, use # 19286.
