Can I Replace Only One Catalytic Converter on 2006 Ford F150

Question:

Can this be bolted in place? Can it be used with original muffler? Would it be best to replace both cat converters despite only one going bad or can I get away with just replacing the left converter and using the OEM muffler and pipes that are currently on the truck.

I spoke with my contact at MagnaFlow and he does not recommend bolting the catalytic converter in place. The application is designed to be welded and will not have any bolt holes.

It is not not necessary to replace both catalytic converters if only one of them needs replacing because the converters work independently of one another. You can certainly use the OEM muffler and pipes that are currently on the truck. The converter will sit in front of the converter so you can keep your stock exhaust.

I have included a few helpful articles about catalytic converters for you to check out also.
