Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2007 Ford F150 Short Bed
Question:
I have a 2007 f150 Supercab w/ 6.5foot bed. Im looking at options to use a light weight 5th wheel trailer thats about 4,800 lbs. I like the thought of a gooseneck type hitch so that I dont loose most of the use of my bed. I only transport the trailer to the campground we host at, it and then bring it home 4 months later. With the depth of the F150 bed, would this have sufficient length to give the proper depth of clearance from the bed to the trailer? Would the offset be enough to allow cab clearance when making slow speed maneuvering? Thanks!

Since you have a short bed truck you are going to have use a fifth wheel hitch with a slider to make tight turns like what you will most likely be doing in the camping ground parking lot. The offsets for gooseneck hitches don't really make a big enough difference.
If you wanted a fifth wheel setup that would allow you to remove the hitch when not in use to give you complete access to the truck bed, plus a gooseneck hitch you would want the B and W Companion Hitch part # BWRVK3400-5W and rail/gooseneck kit part # BWGNRK1104-5W. This would be your best option and would give you the most possible flexibility.
Check out the review video I attached for this hitch.
