Roller Bunk Recommendation for 16 Ft Smoker Craft Pro-Lodge Boat Trailer

Question:

I need to put rollers on my trailer because I beach launch my 16ft smoker craft pro-lodge. The cross members on my trailer at 7 feet apart, so I believe that means I cant replace the wood bunks completely but rather would have to install right on the existing bunks. I am wondering if I can get by with a set of 5 footers, or will I need to get 2 sets of 4 footers so that they actually sit across the brackets holding the bunks in place. it seems like if I use only one, I wouldnt have much support from the frame and a lot of weight distributed in the middle of the bunk board. Am I correct?

Although you may be able to get by with just using one set of 5 foot roller bunks, I am a firm believer that in this case more is better. Having rollers the entire length of your wood bunks will not only make the loading and unloading process easier but it will also provide added support.

Since the cross members on your trailer are 7 feet apart, I recommend that you keep the existing wood bunks and attach two sets of the CE Smith Roller Bunks for Boat Trailers, # CE27700, to those. I do agree that using less footage of rollers wouldn't provide as much support. Mounting hardware is not included but can be purchased at any local hardware store. Just a handful, maybe 20 to be on the safe side, of stainless steel mounting screws is all that you will need to get these rollers installed on your trailer.
