Fit Dial Setting for the Thule Passage Bike Rack part # TH911XT on a 2008 Infiniti M35

Hi I just purchased a thule passage 3 bike rack model th911xt for a 2008 infiniti m35 and wanted to make sure that dial 8 is the perfect setting because the 2006 and 2007 m35 models have a different body style then 2008-10 infiniti m35. Also for the side straps, what can I use to prevent the scratches on the paint since the side metal of the trunk lid is angled and moves up and down Would a towel or 3m clear plastic sticker work? What else can I put in between? Thanks for you time.

I checked with Thule and they list FIT DIAL setting 8 to be used with the Thule Passage Bike Rack part # TH911XT on your 2008 Infiniti M35.

As far as preventing scratches with the side strap goes, you will want to pick a location for the side straps that when secured they won't want to move up or down. Preventing movement of the hooks would be the key to preventing any type of scratching.
