Will Kenda 205/75-14 Tire # AM10235 Fit Dexter Mini Mod Wheel # AM20363
Question:
Hi. Two questions : Will the AM10235 tire fit an AM20363 wheel? I currently have Goodyear Marathon 205/75-14 tires on my tandem axle trailer and would like to increase the load capacity safety margin for the weight of the boat and trailer. I have surge brakes on the front axle and would like to use these tires on both wheels, keeping the Goodyear C rated tires as spares. Theres a difference of 0.2inch on the OD and 0.10inch on the section width. It seems they should be compatible with the Goodyears while increasing the load capacity. Is this correct?

Yes, the tire you referenced, Kenda Karrier 205/75-14 tire # AM10235, will fit on the rim you mentioned, Dexstar Mini Mod Wheel # AM20363. A 205/75-14 tire can fit 14-inch rims in several widths, 5, 5-1/2, 6, 6-1/2-inches, so it will fit properly on this Dexstar wheel.
When inflated to its rated pressure of 65-psi this tire will support a Load Range D rating of 2040-lbs.
Trailer tires should always be fully inflated to the specified COLD pressure on their side walls. Passenger car tires should never be used on a trailer; trailer tires are designed specifically to handle the vertical load from a trailer. I do not recommend mixing tires of different load ratings; doing so will inevitably lead to one set running hotter than the other. However, its fine to use a different tire as a spare since it will be used only for a very short distance.
Please note that upgrading your tire load rating does not necessarily increase the trailer's weight carrying capacity.
