How to Pick Out Replacement Bearings for a Trailer

Question:

Im looking to replace the bearings on a 1984 trailer that has been parked a while under a Hobbie Holder 14 sailboat of the same year. From the original sale and registration documents it appears the trailer is a Highlanderinch ? Model T14-8G but the closest to that model number I can find on the Internet is a Shoreline T14-8. Im wondering if you have any idea what bearings I might need. I have not yet pulled the wheels and removed the bearings for fear of not being able to push the trailer around the yard if I cant get it back together so I dont know if I will find any markings on the actual bearings. I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I wish I had a better way to determine what bearings you need, but the only way is to remove the wheel and hub and then get the numbers stamped on the bearings themselves.

Another option is to use a dial caliper and get exact measurements of the spindle where the bearings ride.

See the picture I attached for more info on where to measure.

If you get back to me with that information I will help you pick out the right hub assemblies. Or, you can follow the link I attached that will take you to the page that has all of our replacement hubs.

You would want to first select the bolt pattern that you have, next select the inner bearing you have, followed by selecting your outer bearing, and then all the correct hubs will be listed.
