Are Scissors Jacks Designed to Lift Trailer

Question:

I thought I understood the difference between a Stabilizer Jack and a Leveling Jack. Stabilizer Jack- Stabilize the unit from Shaking and moving while moving around inside the unit. Leveling Jack- LIFT the unit to assist in Leveling the unit. I have noticed that in the description of the jacks, they state: •Do NOT use these scissors jack as a tire changing jack. Do NOT use the scissors jack to lift excessive weight or tires off the ground Question: How can it LEVEL the unit if it cant LIFT the unit? Can you clarify? Thanks,

The Ultra-Fab Scissor Jack # UF48-979032 that you referenced is strictly designed as a stabilization mechanism for trailers. This jack mounts to the underside of the trailer and then drops to hold the trailer in place to prevent rocking. These jacks are designed to stabilize, but not to support the full weight of a trailer.

My technical contact at Ultra-Fab told me that the term jack is an industry term for a variety of items that do not necessarily raise a vehicle but all have a similar look such as automobile scissor jacks and trailer stabilization scissor jacks.
