Is Carlisle Control Adapter Module # HBA-CAM Needed on 2015 GMC 2500HD with Factory Brake Controller
Question:
Do I need to install this module on a 2015 GMC 2500HD with factory IBC? The Carlisle Hydrastar comes on and works well when I use the manual slide switch. While driving using the foot pedal not very good if any. Sitting in a parked position with brake pedal depressed hard the hydrastar does not come on. I own a 2014 Mobile Suites with Mor/Ryde electric over hydraulic. In the past I have always used the P3 and disregarded the IBC but the 2015GMC doesnt appear to have wiring provisions. Thankyou

Due to the problems that you are currently having while towing your 2014 Mobile Suites with Mor/Ryde electric over hydraulic brakes, I recommend installing the Carlisle Control Adapter Module, # HBA-CAM. The factory brake controller on your 2015 GMC 2500HD is not compatible with the electric-over-hydraulic brake actuators on your trailer and installing the adapter will correct this.
As for the Hydrastar not coming on when the brake pedal is depressed at a sitting position, this is due to the fact that the factory controller is proportional and if the truck is not moving it won't send a signal to the brakes.
I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and if you are still interested in using the Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90195, like you have in the past, you will need to use the Plug-In Wiring Adapter, # 3016. In order to bypass your factory installed controller, you would just need to cut the blue wire on the plug-in brake control harness and connect it to enough 12-gauge blue wire to reach the rear of the truck. At the 7-way trailer connector at the back of the truck, you will cut the blue wire approximately 4 to 6 inches from the connector and connect it to the blue wire that was run from the brake control wiring harness.
