Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2011 Volkswagen Golf
Question:
Can I tow a small boat that is 16 ft and weights 1330 lbs. The boat is a tracker. I have a VW golf 2011.

From what I could find, the maximum towing capacity of your 2011 Volkswagen Golf is 1,000 pounds. Consult the owners manual to confirm. If it is limited to 1,000 pounds you will not be able to tow a 1,330 pound boat trailer even though the available hitches are rated for 2,000 pounds. You always go by the lowest rated component in the system.
If you can find a boat and trailer that combined weigh less than 1,000 pounds then I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24825. You will need the recommended ball mount. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258.
For Wiring, I recommend the # 119250KIT.
