2-Inch Trailer Hitch Availability for 2014 Subaru Forester
Question:
Hi, I have a 2014 forester and would like to buy a hitch that will mostly be used for a bike rack. Id like to avoid having to use a stabilizing strap when carrying bikes, and probably would prefer a 2inch hitch. Which hitch would you recommend? Thanks.

A 2-inch Class III hitch is definitely the way to go on your 2014 Subaru Forester. This size receiver offers broader compatibility with a range of accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers, and also offers higher tongue weight and towing capacities (but your owner's manual should be consulted before any towing activity).
The Draw-Tite Class III hitch # 75876, which is shown in the linked video on your same vehicle, installs using included hardware without welding or drilling; the exhaust needs to be lowered temporarily for easier installation and some heat shield trimming is required. Two helpful articles are linked to assist you with your hitch install. However, this hitch does not require you to use a stabilizing strap like the comparable Curt hitch # C13144 in an application with a hitch-mount bike rack.
You can use one of the 2-inch Class III bike racks shown on the link at right. Two articles to help you select one suitable for your bikes and Forester are linked.
