How to Make a 4-way to 5-way Adapter for Towing a Motorcycle Trailer
Question:
I have a 4 way flat adapter on my 2003 Ford Ranger and recently bought a motorcycle camping trailer that has a 5 flat connection with separate turn signals/brake lights. I dont currently own a motorcycle but plan on buying another one in the future so I dont want to change the wiring on the trailer. Is there an adapter available that I can plug into my truck 4 flat that will run the 5 flat on the trailer?

While there isn't an adapter available I can tell you how to make one. You will need a wiring converter like the part # RM-732, a 4-way to plug into your Ranger wiring like part # HM48110 and a 5-way to the trailer like part # HM47900.
On the input side of the converter you will need to match the yellow and green colors from the # HM48110. On the output side of the converter the yellow and green wires will match up to the yellow and green of the # HM47900, the red wire from the converter will run to the blue wire and the white wire will match up to the white wire.
The brown wire from the 4-way will bypass the converter and will run straight to the 5-way.
